Yeah? What, was everybody dead? I mean, it was an okay opening, but Prince knocks your socks off every performance. This is dumb. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Not that I take the E channel seriously, but that's quite high considering the many pop culture things that they have covered on that list. Was this only for this year or was this taking in eveything from way back?
OK, a little edit here after re-reading the list, DAYUMM, Was it That good?? It's in the top twenty, Damn good, but jeesh, that high?? At least he's on the list and we can forget about it tommorow. [Edited 10/25/04 15:20pm] Jeux Sans Frontiers

Well, since the Beatles invading the U.S. is one of the moments, I am going to hazard a guess that they are going way back. In my opinion, it was hardly the 18th most awesome moment to ever happen in music history. Hell, I think the assless pants were more awesome than that. (But you know what they say about opinions....) S Filthy cute and baby U know it

No kidding.
I think you could make a list of the 20 most awesome moments in PRINCE history and this wouldn't be on my list. Sheesh "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. History is The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Michael Jackson on Motown 25, The Doors at the Whiskey A-Go-Go, Madonna opening the first VMAs, Nirvana on 'MTV unplugged,' etc. Prince is great, but that was not some mind blowing moment with major musical importance. It was a nice way for Prince to start off a successful year, with the 'it' artist of the moment, and nothing more.

I agree with some of you Prince has had alot of other great TV moments, but I'm glad that E did recognize that performance. Maybe the other performances he has been on other TV shows will make another list, but as far as his history goes, yeah the performance was just earlier this year, but it will go down in history as one of the greatest live performances.
The ass-less pants. I don't think so. But he sho' looked good though.

I wrote the post he was responding too (I'm 16). I can't even begin to stress The Beatles importance, influence, innovation, etc; Beatles for Sale, Help!, Rubber Soul, Revolver, A Hard Day's Night , Magical Mystery Tour, White Album, Abbey Road, Please Please Me, With the Beatles, Let It Be, Meet the Beatles, The Beatles' Second Album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It's ridiculous to consider The Beatles anything less than legendary.

I guess you have to be older to understand the significance. S Age? The Beatles defy age! They were so monumentally huge that I doubt their fame will ever be topped in my lifetime. Their legendary status cannot be denied. You can think that the Beatles are the worst band in the history of time, but you can't argue their enormous impact on the music industry and pop culture. Their invasion of America deserves to be #1 three times over. As a matter of fact, #1 should just be "The Beatles". That's it. Their entire career was the greatest moment in entertainment history. I am 32 years old and a female. No I am not influenced by the Beatles, but I didn't have to disrespect them. I feel I have to defend Prince, much like Beatle followers have to defend them. They are legends whether you are a fan or not.
