Prince most differcult songs to perform live

What do you guys think? I say "Adore" Because of all the diffrent vocals tracking and I don't think a live performance could touch what he accomplish in the studio. So what do you guys think is his most differcult song to perform live?

"When Doves Cry" the song sounds so minimalist but it is truely a complex tune. There are so many harmony and rhythm lines that blend together into one track and it's hard to mimick this on stage.

I agree! thumbs up!
"When Doves Cry" never sounds right to me when performed live.

But I LOVE Adore live- and it sounded better than ever when he played it during the acoustic set!

I agree it's complicated, but the record is live in the studio and I thought that he pulled it off when I saw him in concert in 92 or 93.

I think that his one man band stuff is hard, like:

Tamborine
Tick Tick Bang
Thieves in the Temple
For You

I also thought his Sign o the Times was weak on the Musicology tour, though I think that song should be easy.

Yeah Thieves never sounded right live. The sudio version rules every time.

However, I love the SOTT rework on the current tour.

He has always had problems singing "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" live. Hence it doesn't really show up on his setlists, and when it has he performs it with the lower register of his voice.

Have you heard the way he has been delivering "Adore" live over the last couple of years?

Trust me, in a vocal-gymnastic sense his new live rendition knocks the studio version into a cocked hat.

I don't think Raspberry Beret sounds good with the horns instead of the strings. I've never heard a live version of this song that I've liked.

"Kiss" has always been a let down live.

In any era.

I wish he would slow it way down for once. It's the only way to do that song any justice.

When was the last time we heard "Adore" with a full band? I can only think of the Lovesexy tour version... every other time it's been as part of a piano medley.

Actually When Doves Cry has "overlapping lyrics" that make it hard to perform live. I saw a live version once in which the background singers (the revolution) would start the next line of verse as P is finishing the previous line. He'd have to pull an "Ashley Simpson" to make it sound like the record.

When Doves Cry and definitely Adore. I didn't care for the acoustic version on the Musicology tour. I found a full live version on winmx. It's about 11 minutes long. It sounds good, but I don't think he will ever be able to do justice to a live version, especially the layered vocals. sad

On the Musicology tour, the first guitar solo and drum beat is a sample of the recording. I think it could be better if they had the drum beat throughout the whole song which would be driving the melody instead of Renato's keyboard lines. Another thing--they don't finish the whole song on the tour.

I think the closest he's come to the album was during the Lovesexy tour. In some ways it was better than the album.
