Prince Not Inducted Into UK Hall Of Fame.

The public picked Michael Jackson over Prince!

Ugh.

I guess I'm not surprised. if it's a popularity contest, then MJ will always win.

do they only make one induction per year?

It's the first year of it's existence.

It was obvious that MJ would go over Prince.. To be honest I think he shouls have been one of the 5 artists put in automatically.

exactly, the show itself is just another indication of how racist the music industry is, i mean where the hell is stevie wonder, where is prince, why was mj not an automatic inductee, where is james brown! instead we hav rolling stones, beatles and madonna, give me a break...!

Grow up and stop pulling the race card out of your arse!! The Beatles and the Stones simply CANT be denied. Their impact on popular music is as big as anyones ever had (especially the Beatles) - of course they're automatic. That's just a completely ridiculous post. Put down the crack pipe and get the chip off your shoulder dude.
Im guessing James Brown and Stevie Wonder's impact in the UK is minimal in comparision, and Jackson, what a joke - he never graduated from being anything more than a basic (though well selling) pop star.

Very true. Also keeping in mind that the Beatles and Stones are both British. I don't have a clue what Madonna's doing on that list though. confused

Spookymuffin

The Times (UK Newspaper) dedicated a half-a-page rant on how every person chosen by the public for each decade was radio-friendly (voting for the Spice Girls over Radiohead; Queen over Bowie, etc) and said the public in general should never be allowed to vote on something like that because newspaper coverage of celebrities can have too much effect and make people go for image over talent. They were damn right. the UKHoF is a pile of shit thanks to the public brick

mad THE SPICE GIRLS?!?!?! Are they completely INSANE?!?!?!?!?!

Queen VS. David Bowie.... I really love and respect both. I think Queen deserves it's place in that hall of fame. So does David Bowie, but it's less of an issue for me than the Spice Freaking Girls!!

Why do they have to limit the number of artists, sheesh?

Why can't they put in several of the greats from each decade?

Michale Jackson was probably the last great superstar and the biggest thing since The Beatles especially in the UK where Bad, after Sgt. Pepper, is still the biggest selling album of all time. So I can just about accept Prince's omission. And I won't hear a bad word about Madonna pre American LIfe.

What really gets under my skin is just the mention of The Spice Girls in what is billed as a prestigous honour of some sort. Girl power maybe but no musical talent.

Then to make things worse we get Robbie Williams representing the 90's. If it wasn't so ridiculously funny I'd be genuinely angry and upset. Sure he sells tons in Britain. But more important, influential or talented than Nirvana? Even Nirvana's record sales could probably match his if that's what really matters. It just defies belief.

What truly annoyed me though was the 70's vote. I wish the Brits would get over their fucking Queen obsession. Does anyone outside Britain give a fuck about them? I mean they actually once voted Queen the greatest band of all time over there! So their greatest hits album spent a decade in the charts, mostly based on 1 song and Waynes World at that. But practically none of the people who bought that own a single studio album of theirs, probably because they didn't have any good ones.

Led Zeppelin on the other hand - truly one of the greatest bands of all time. And they kept their integrity unlike the remainders of Queen who shamelessly collaberted with that great boyband called Five to acheive another no.1 hit so congragultions guys u managed to make We Will Rock You even more annoying.

Stevie Wonder and Prince are too good for this joke of a hall of fame.

Sorry for a this rant it's just one of my mates genuinely believes Queen are better than Prince falloff and was winding me up earlier.

Btw I didn't even see any of the show on C4, I just read about it. Probably a good thing too.

Bob Marley was an automatic inductee, so your race card theory goes out the window right there.

Probably because his popular profile hasn't been as high as theirs over the last 10 years. Then again Bob Marley was an honoury inductee.

I wonder who's in the panel for making these choices....

Any1 notice how the report totally misunderstood Ron Wood's comment?

He wasn't talking about how he "wasn't there" in the 60s coz he was stoned! He wasn't in the Stones in the '60s! He only joined after Brian Jones died... Stupid journalists!

Come on people!!!!

Prince is great, and had a huge impact. But as far as influence goes. Love him or hate him, MJ is a legend.

Personally, MJ should have gone in automatically, with Madonna and P to fight it out, where P would have won!

I actually love P and Madonna more, but to take away what MJ has done, would be a musical injustice of the biggest kind.

I think Madonna should not of been automatically entered, but her chart sucsess is remarkable to say the least.....yeah Michael in terms of God/Jesus like stature alone should be there automatically! Not even U2 were this remarkable with the level of iconic status Jacko got! Not since the beatles had someone been so popular ALL OVER THE WORLD.....I say that in capitals as this is UK hall of fame.....greatest artists around the world vote would go to the beatles, elvis, Marley then Jacko I imagine.....maybe Jacko even first as Iam sure Africa and asia don't give 2 shits about jacko's trial!

As a complete artist, MJ ain't a patch on Stevie Wonder or Prince - he was a better pop star.
