Prince's worst song. Don't get me wrong, everyone here as well as myself knows that Prince is great, but there are great artists that make a bad song or two from time to time, and Prince is one of those artists. Anyway, getting down to business:Prince's worst song is "Batdance". What the fuck is that? He just made this club tune and just threw in samples of the Batman movie. It's just plain terrible, nuff said. But there are good songs on the Batman album like "The Future" and "Partyman".
EDIT:"Batdance" also should have been on VH1's 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs countdown. [Edited 11/15/04 11:42am] | |

The "I want to bust that body" section is pretty cool though. "I Like Funky Music" is the crappiest I can think of off the top of my head. But there are plenty of others that could contend. [Edited 11/15/04 11:29am] | |

I’m not nearly qualified to comment on this topic, but can’t resist it’s somewhat trashy allure. It should be interesting to see what people and thinking and I want to support this thread.
Anyone hear a song called JUGHEAD? ----not a shinning moment. Try defending the talents and artistry of your favorite performer, and have this song thrown in your face. (I kinda’ like BatDance---now I’m kinda’ embarrassed to admit it.)  | |

Okay, I'll say it:
I freakin' LOVE Batdance. It's one of my FAVORITE Prince tunes, it's one of the most experimental freakin' pop songs ever to become a hit, it's got one of his funkiest breaks ever, and - okay, put yer flame hats on - IT HAS ONE OF HIS BEST GUITAR SOLOS, PERIOD. I'll defend that song till they nail the damn coffin lid over my ranting ghoul head, dammit! 
Quit focusing on the silly batdancers in the video with their goofy leotards (I love the video too, but I'll admit it's schlocky...but I like that about it, too!  ) and really pay attention to the song. It kicks bat-ass. | |

emancipation graffiti bridge friend lover mother sister wife...its a really pretty song..lyrics wise..but i HATE the way he screeches it live 4 love Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

Do not diss Batdance. I love the song and video. I know know it's popular to trash his album and it's not one of my favorites either but leave Batdance alone. Move on to #2 on your list? CALL ME A DREAMER 2! |

"arms of orion" will always win the crap award where i'm concerned...and it's from the "batman" soundtrack, so i hope all the batdance haters are happy.
there's tons of stuff from "emancipation" and "NPS" that i can't stomach either, and some real weiners from "Rave", though most of those were salvaged with the "Rave In2" remix album, which turned me into a fan of "Man'O'War". | |

i don't think the song has a lot of personality - it could be buried into the last few songs on the O+> album and i wouldn't bat an eye - but at least it's not aggressively craptastic. | |

Batdance isn't my favorite, but it's up there with When Doves Cry for most brilliant Prince song. There's never been another pop song like it. I think it looks forward to rave music in it's structure & use of samples.
Also he picked some of the best quotes from the film, which shows he knows something about dialogue, as well. It sums up the movie in just a few minutes. I think Graffiti Bridge is my least favorite serious song. Poom Poom is my least favorite period. Check this song out at:
