What personally do u think it is and what publicly do u think it is?


I guess "darling nikki" casued the most publically but to me I was quite shocked at the outtake "work that fat".....but I know that track is infact saying he likes his women fat (which in real life he doesn't..... anyway.....)

Also "I love u in me" gets nominated as it shocked me as song musically is gorgeous yet the lyrics r quite graphic!


"P control" is a song I thought, when first buying the album, that it meant Prince contol or something like that (I did not give it hardly any thought though).....i was wrong!

Also the "orgasm" was controversal 4 being the worst ending on a prince album! Particually as the former track was so good!

I think I'd have to say "Sister" is the most out there. Sex, how you have it, how it feels, etc. is "nasty" but not controversial. Incest? That's controversial.

Well i think that probably Sexc MF caused alot of controvercy when it was released, the lyrics are pretty explicit, although the video clip is not 2 bad!

now, i dont know 4 sure, but wasnt darlin nikki the reason why they started putting parental advisory stickers on albums?

COME definately. but i kinda agree with Sister and Darling Nikki. Both got mad controversy. The first time i heard Sister, i had to pause my player and think about what i had just heard.

well, in terms of it's content, definately sister, in terms of the reaction/impact it had, definitely darling nicki. If Dirty Mind had been as popular as Purple Rain, than sister would win hands down

Publicly, it was "Darling Nikki" (started Tipper Gore's PMRC). Personally for me it was when he returned to Black Album raunchiness in the '90s (cf. the NPG albums). It was like Lovesexy never happened. He lost me there.

I co-sign on SISTER. That's the only song that I thought really caused controversy, although a lot of people aren't really aware of it. Controversy had it's controversial Lords Prayer. Bambi had it's lesbian theme. Jack u off, obvious. And of course Cinnamon Girl.

I think it's not only controversial in it's content, but controvsial in that it plays with "facts" from his life. I am not even certain that it is auto-biographical....and that's part of it's controversy.

It's not incest with his sister...but certainly is up there with abuse from his father.
