Reality check: Purple Rain was 20 years ago. First Avenue is more about jam-band music and reggae than it is about funk or Prince or anything to do with him. Let it go (already).

if i had it my way and if i had enough money, i would buy tickets to various shows/events, give 'em to those who are still stuck on thinkin that first ave. is prince and vice versa, make them go there and come to find out that neither first ave., nor the city of minneapolis is some princely valhalla. i wish folks could do some friggin homework and find out more about a venue, besides whatever association with p it has. i've done it...don't see the harm in other people following suit. you'll learn a helluva lot.
