Prince's Guitar Does anyone know the exact model of guitar prince uses most commonly like the tan one from the purple rain movie that he still uses on the musicology tour and was on the cover of the ONA Aladdin DVD? | |

allz i know is it is a hohner. i don't think they make them as of now, but it does have a great sound. i'm giving u the answer before people start clowning u for asking a question that u didn't know was asked before today. we so called newbies gotta stick together. if u do find one someday, i hope it sounds as good as prince's does. good luck!!

apparently they call it "the prinz" i unno hehe fender is not a hohner...fender is a fender....they made a guitar called the telecaster and many other companies copied the style.... one of these companies is called HOHNER instruments...they mostly are known for their harmonica's but they make guitars and basses...and they also made some keyboards ...like the clavinet that stevie wonder played on his song SUPERSTITION ....prince purchased a HOHNER copy of a telecaster pre dirty mind and it has remained his prime guitar for funk since....hohner sold an inferior copy of the model prince plays called the TE PRINZ to capitalize on prince's post purple rain success....take care | |

I loooove that guitar!!The sound of it,the color,the scratch plate..Just cool!
Like the clothes he's wearing,Prince is the only artist who can play those strangely shaped guitars and get away with it,but I prefer him playing that tele.. | |

But how many of them does Prince really have ?? I know he has at least two, but is he still using the old one he bought for a mere 30 bucks in 81 ?
Or are the people at HOHNER ( German company, Prinz being the German version of "prince") still making them for him ? Or are the new ones just replicas? And what about the cloud guitar? I know he smashed it after the last Revolution concert during the Parade tour in Japan but did he really have only ONE original cloud guitar ? He had two originals made... Neversin. Thanks for the info, also thanks to Handclaps... I saw a peach colored one for sale , supposedly an original SOTT cloud after the Den Bosch Gold Experience show in 1995...10.000 guilders !!!! A guy was trying to sell it out of his trunk. I think the offspring clouds look a bit thinner than the original Purple Rain cloud..maybe I´m wrong. So there are offsprings...but who´s making them ?
