PRINCE AND FINK - BEEF? Hi all,
I´m new to the board and, having browsed through most of the posts here, I must say there have been some eye-openers. I mean, I became a Prince fan when I was fifteen and it never crossed my mind that that my idol might have experimented with drugs at some point of his career. As for his sexual orientation, well, there always was some speculation, but I refused to think of him as anything but rampantly hetero. Hmm, maybe the squares I grew up surrounded by were right after all... To get to the point... I remember reading an interview of Matt Fink and Rosie Gaines in the "Keyboard" magazine in 1990 where Fink was asked about the sound of the piano used on "Nude" tour.He started sort of squirming and, egged on by the reporter, finally revealed that the instrument was, in fact, not a piano at all but a synthesizer masquerading as one. Well, the next thing you know, Fink is replaced by Tommy Barbarella! Interviewed for the book "Slave To The Rhythm" (published in 1997 I think, I forget who the author was), Fink made some less-than-flattering comments on his former employer. So I wonder if he harboured some hard feelings due to his being, in fact, sacked by Prince for revealing "classified information". Karri

i don't think it's as bad as you might think it is...i think matt fink had his experience with prince and grew towards other things in his life. i know he's made some critical comments about prince in the years since, but as long as he worked with prince, i think he earned that right. and i'm sure he could say a lot worse things than he has.
and anyway, he showed up for a gig with prince during the paisley park celebration, so i'm guessing things aren't THAT bad between them. just my opinion.

I don't think the piano/synth thing was supposed 2 B kept a big secret, otherwise prince would NEVER have fans dancin' on stage. I no I've been there & saw it. & yeah, I was quite a surprise, but really nuttin' that kept me awake @ nite.

Thanks for your comments. I might have read a bit too much into the whole thing.Í´m glad to hear that Prince and Fink are still cool. I was also glad to read in another thread that Prince checked out Brown Mark´s gig, considering the fact that P & BM didn´t get on too well during the Revolution period. It´s a shame about P´s treatment of Wendy & Lisa, though...

I love the Dr.!
He lasted the longest of all of Prince's bandmembers, and was present for all of his best music... man, what I wouldn't give for an evening of beers with Dr. Fink!!!
