If I recall properly, it was in only one theater in Charlotte, NC as well. I know that I saw it very early on, if not opening night, and it was probably about half-full. That was the only Prince movie that I actually saw in the theater. If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

TheBigBang said: I decided to copy the thread about Cherry Moon and get some feedback about Sign 'O' The Times. The reason for this is that when I went to see it, in San Diego, on opening night, my sister and I...and three girls, were the only ones in the entire theater. And it was a BIG theater. I remember the attendants were talking about the movie at the concession counter and were saying how they didn't understand why no one was coming to see it. Anyway, the three girls that were with us in the theater were standing up and dancing through the entire movie and who could blame them; it's not like they were inconveniencing anybody. It closed a couple of days later.
I remember being sad about it, but then rejoicing when it was released pretty quickly on VHS. maybe it was empty due to going to the SOTT concert come to think about you baby you are my only need

Saw it on opening night at a major theatre in San Diego... it's off of Hwy 8, I can't remember the name of the theatre, but it was one of the ones with a giant screen...
The line was down the street... it was cool to see other Prince fans going to the movie... I took my wife, I forget if she liked it or not. I'm glad I went. Good times. |

Gav said: Opening night at the Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road, London and it was full.
The second time I saw it was at the Dominion Theatre as well (about 5 people as well as me that time). The first time was at its (I think) British premiere at the Time Out Exibition at Olympia. It was a bit strange watching it at such an event, but the room was packed and everyone enjoyed it. Max ...I go 2 the max...I'm not afraid...I wanna dance...

I went opening night here in Houston, and the auditorium was full. The crowd really got into it!
Now, Graffiti Bridge? I went with my then girlfriend, and the only other people in the theater was a couple with their itty bitty baby! The movie was so boring, the child didn't wake up once! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I remember going to see it in the opening week quite vividly,
it was The Cameo Cinema, Edinburgh and i reckon there was 6 people there. So good to watch it on the big screen for the first time, and everybody outside didnt realise what they were missing....hehe also lifted a fistful of 'Sign' flyers which was a bonus! \o/\o/ ° The Breakdown = Best Prince song for 20 years

The theatre was half full I think. I remember the sound level was a bit too low for a concert movie. But still a good time was had and many people were dancing and singing along. [Edited 11/20/04 2:59am] RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
