4 me there were only 3 people including myself.
And that was opening day, 1st showing!

Including myself, I think there were about 4 or 5 people in the theater the day I saw it (which was a matinee, and was about 2 days after the film was released).

About halfway through the movie, 2 people towards the front got up and left.

UTCM only lasted in that theater in my town for one week.

It didn't even play in my hometown. I had to wait for the video to come out.

I did manage to see Graffiti Bridge in the theater, though. That one wasn't too packed.

I saw it at Waltham Cross cimema, on the Friday night (the day of release).....

I was the only one in the biggest screen they had!

There were 10 of us at the first showing of UTCM opening day. There were about 60 at the SOTT first showing at about 4 at the first showing of Graffiti Bridge.

i went to the movies by myself.i can't recall how many were there but i do remember this one woman said to her girlfriend when the scene came on in which mary first sees christopher after her sheila e. imitation.you know the famous shot.she daid that "he's wearing more makeup than i am!".lol!

In the ABC in Streatham High Road with about 10 people on a Saturday evening.

I was the only one there. And I was the projectionist.

About 50, Edmonton, Alberta. I think it was the second day. No one left, and the crowd seemed quite pleased, overall (despite the review in the papers the day before).

The audience was a half to two-tirds filleds, about 80-100 people. They laughed at several points in the movie (the scene where Prince accidentally acosts Mary's mom nearly brought the house down) and I thought the movie would be huge based on the response, Most critics were very much like my father (whom I saw the movie with along with my little brother). Horribly uncomfortable and not amused.

There were only 2 other people in the theatre the day I saw it and it was only 2 days after it opened.

GB had a few more but I was in L.A. at the time and it had a huge campaign to get people interested.

...it was a decent house N my town: part of a MAJIC radio promotion...

I was living in the Philippines then and was never shown in the theaters there due to poor reviews and box-office in the US; saw it on video and loved it!!

4 people on the second day of release (saturday afternoon) in Greenock, Scotland. I was there by myself, aged 13, feeling very proud of myself. I really enjoyed it then, and I really enjoy it now.

Grafitti Bridge is another story. I've watched this once, on video, in '91 I guess, and 13 years later I still haven't been able to return to it. I did buy the dvd though so maybe one day....

There were a lot of people there. I remember b/c everybody busted out laughing @ his death scene

I don't remember but I think there weren't that many people. I do remember the projectionist forgetting to turn on the soundtrack & finally turning it on during the part where you hear Christopher Tracy's Parade.The strange thing is, nobody got up & complained.Maybe everybody thought it was a silent movie !

I believe about 4 others. 2 girls and 2 guys. Us Girls SCREAMED at his Closeups and ASS SHOTS! What a FOX!

Opening day in L.A. the theater was packed. You could hear a few people complaining about the movie. I will never forget this young girls comment “P is so cheap to make this movie in b/w” she must have bitched on and off during the whole movie

About 2/3rds full -- I went with my mother, and she really enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty cool -- I really dug old b&w drama-musicals at the time.

I saw 'Cherry Moon' in theatres one week after it came out.There were a total of 7 people in the theatre

The critics killed this film! Their bad reviews is what kept many people away.

I saw it on opening night and it was sold out. Everyone was expecting another "Purple Rain". I saw it three other times and by the time the word had gotten out and there were very few people in the audience. I thought the movie was very good, regardless of some of the "weird" music.

Now when I went to see "Graffiti Bridge" that was another story. I was in the theater on opening night and ran into an old friend of mine that was there to see a different movie. Back in school, when it came to Prince, she was like a black version of Zelaira. I told her I was going to see Prince's new movie and she said "you are still into Prince after that weird shit he has been doing the last few years?". I told her the movie was supposed to be a continuation of "Purple Rain" and convinced her and her husband to join me and my friend that was with me. There were very few people in the audience. As we were watching the movie, I starting getting very embarrased for convincing her to join me. We all four left the movie saying that was worst shit Prince ever did. She was very pissed at me for convincing her to waste her money.
