AFAIK, for the most part he has all his threads custom-made.

Prince does sometimes buy "off the rack" in the women's sections and kid's sections (usually sending someone to go out there), but not for his suits...or for his highly visible "professional" stuff.

What are you guys talking about? Prince has a whole staff of personal designers making his clothes. He's mentioned this several time in interviews.He's been doing this for a long time.

Just think about it. The outfits that the folks in the 1999 video were not off-the-rack. Somebody either made them (you can definitly tell that from Dez Dickerson's outfit --- geez!) or significantly altered them.

The only exception is the shoes. He had to have gotten those from the women's department, a store frequented by trannies. I would imagine those were hard to find in the 70s.

i got a problem with the term 'Pimp suits'. it seems that whenever a black guy puts a suit on, he's a 'pimp'. Prince's suits ain't even pimpish.

There were some interviews with mention of him buying items from the women's side of designer(like Varsace) collections... , and the nordstrom boys section is from some inside gossip by ex- staff members sent on errands like buying sneakers or socks or sweaters... etc.

Its no secret that much of his fashion aesthetic is from the female side of fashion (halter tops!)

of course all his pants are custom, as well as his matching full body outfits.

At this point I've read so many articles and interviews (including personal conversations when I've run into someone that has worked in some capacity with him) that I can't remember where I'm getting my info from!

He wore this tough white top at the Denver concert.

Up close the front was a brocade print.. Probably silk material... Absolutely beautiful.

So in answer to your questions, that type of material is way costly.

i believe it's a female who does the work. Pretty good work i must say.
