NPGMC Retail

I am thinking of ordering Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic and The War from NPGMC Retail. Does anyone know whether or not The War is likely to (or ever was) available on CD instead of cassette? Also what is it like? and Rave In2 for that matter?

My fiancee's birthday is coming up soon (end of April) and I was also thinking of getting her one of the pink/lilac baby-doll tees with the word Prince on the front. Does anyone know what the quality is like? Anyone in the UK know how long it takes to get here?

If I order them all together I only have to pay one lot of $15 shipping fee. Skinflints unite! wink

Thanks in advance.

The 'The War' cassette is the same as the one that was sended out to some of the people who had ordered Crystal Ball. The image of the 'The War' listing is not the same as the cassette. It is black with orange lettering. It's worth getting....
The Rave SE CD is very much worth getting. It contains remixes to several Rave songs and extended versions to others. It also contains the track 'Beautiful Strange'. For this song also it's worth the $15 + $15 for shipping....

I don't know anything about that shirt as I don't wear woman's cloths on a regular basis...lol

Conclusion: ORDER IT!

BTW. The War was released on CD. As a promo. This CD is well known among collectors, but it is very hard to get. I'm currently looking for one myself, so if anyone is interested in selling: PLEASE DROP ME A NOTE!!!!!

The War was available on CD, but won't be again (I know, I've asked several times). It now changes hands on eBay for more than $70 and very collectable.

Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic isn't that different to the released version of the album, here's a quick rundown:

1. Rave In2 The Joy Fantasic 5:18 (radically different dance version)
2. Undisputed (The Moneyopolis Mix) 5:46 (slightly funkier different mix)
3. The Greatest Romance Ever Sold 8:07 (includes parts of the Adam & Eve mix, and new instrumentation towards end)
4. Hot Wit U (Nasty Girl Remix) 4:23 (Includes Prince singing lines from Vanity 6's Nasty Girl, very different)
5. Tangerine 2:13 (extended instrumental ending)
6. So Far, So Pleased 3:25 (same as on Rave Un2)
7. The Sun, The Moon And Stars 5:18 (same as on Rave Un2)
8. Man'O'War (Remix) 5:13 (more percussive mix)
9. Baby Knows 3:53 (has extended outro after false ending)
10. eye Love U, But eye Don't Trust U Anymore 3:34 (same as Rave Un2)
11. Beautiful Strange 4:56 (new song, not quite the same as video version)
12. Silly Game 3:30 (same as Rave Un2)
13. Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do 3:16 (same as Rave Un2)
14. Prettyman 5:36 (longer version)

Overall it's not radically different to Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. Personally I like it better than the original version, it's more like a updated/finished version of the album than a "remix" album.

The War was available intermittently as a CD on NPGMC retail after it had been sent out for free to people on the Crystal Ball order/mailing list. They also sent out the "Love, Sex, Liberty" T shirts as well as Emancipation lyric booklets for free as a token of recompense. In fact, I telephoned what was 1-800 NewFunk after the problem and explained that I had not received a copy of The War: a copy was duly sent to me for free.

I've seen them at Paisley and they look ok quality-wise - but let's face it - it's a baby-doll tee, - not haute couture.
Anyone in the UK know how long it takes to get here?
I received a copy of Rave In2 about 10 days after having ordered it - here in UK.

Thanks guys, I'm off to order it all now. Gotta keep Prince in heels, or is it sandals these days? wink

That'll teach me. At the final checkout stage I was told I need to enable per-session cookies and shut my browser down, and what do you know I do have them enabled. evil

Now I have no idea if my order has gone through. I'll try again tonight from my home PC. sad

Well, I've e-mailed Retail help on the following address npg@gage.com (hope that's right), now awaiting a response. Are they usually pretty quick about these things?
