"guitars and drums on the 1........Waaooo!!"

Easy shit.

U no the drill assholes and elbows!!

Basically FAVOURITE BREAKDOWN in a song.

Mine is long and brilliant breakdown in "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man". Just those 3 notes that take over that part of the song work superbly.

Yo Turn!

Take Care of That Ass Y'all!!! wink

I like the intro to the live version of I could never take etc etc

But the best thing are the kewl horns recorded for LaLaLaHeHeHee, just when the single version moves into the extended version bit. Prince used it again to break down When Doves Cry during the Sign "O" The Times tour and to push it into Purple Rain.

Go on, put it on. Listen; the horns are crazy. Kewl. Awsome.

"I could never take the place of your man" from the SOTT movie. Gives me chills every time I hear it.

The breakdown in the live video of America (filmed in France) when Prince takes the sticks from Bobby Z, then kicks butt with the drum solo. Too funky!

The funkiest breakdown I've ever heard P do was on bootleg of a rehearsal back in 86. This was the imfamous Diss of Paul Peterson.

P was doing "Mutiny" and broke it down on the 1 with Eric Leeds playing the funkiest solo I've ever heard! All the while the Revolution is chanting "Bold....all the way Bold!". They keep that going while Prince has the crowd chanting "Paul...punk of the month!". Then, to make it even more funky, P chimes in on top of that with " This is what its like in the Dreamfactory, Ohhh-oh!"

This went on for about 2 minutes, then he brought the band back in on the 1 with a JB style "Good gawd!" Grooved some more, then broke it back down again just to hear the crowd sing "Paul..Punk of the month" a little more. Then he ended the song on the 2, "Aw that's good!"

Prince is always funky, but when he's got a chip on his shoulder about something, he can get down right stank!
"We can play 4 days! If it get dry, gimme that mayonaise!"

Possessed live video was a great break down..

as was "Beatiful night! Ya'll sing!"

but top marks go to..

The end of "We Gets up". The song is average, but where he breaks down the end and comes in with the guitar rift, wow, should have been a song in its own right. Play it loud!

the breakdown he did a million times on the JOTY tour during "Talkin' Loud Ain't Sayin' Nuthin'" was the coolest.
