Decent album filler...baaaaaddddd lead-off single choice for a "comeback" album. A nail in the coffin for pop radio singles for Prince. All good things they say never last...

I absolutely LOVE this track! Okay, it suffers a little from that plastic-y mid-late 90's production sound (imagine how it would've sounded just a few years earlier) and not the best choice as 1st single. But I still love this song. Definitely one of the best on 'Rave..', IMO.
I clearly remember buying this single the day it came out. Some songs hit you where it hurts the minute you hear them. Others are a little more subtle and take a while to work their magic. This was definitely the latter. I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew I was going to love this song eventually, even if I didn't quite 'get' it the first time round. It has such an ususual 'feel' - the melody is almost buried in the production. But I now think it's beautiful and, combined with the video - perfect. By the way, has anyone seen the footage of performing 'TGRES' on French (?) tv? He starts off singing the track, stops the band and says something like "Wait a minute - I feel like Prince tonight". Cue: funky workout! Suddenly all hell breaks loose and the audience are dancing on the studio floor. Simply amazing. One of his best tv appearances I've seen.

I LOVE this song! I "rediscovered" it this summer and listen to it often. To GOD be the Glory!
