Prince classics that ya just can't dig...

There are many songs by the man that demand my respect and appreciation but there are a few "classics" that I just can't seem to fall in love with:

- "Dirty Mind" With so many other songs to love on this album, I just don't get what the big deal about this song is. Hell, I even love "Gotta Stop (Messin' About)" more than "Dirty Mind"

- "Cream" Have never gotten the attraction of the song and I'm starting to think I never will. I dig Prince's cockiness but I don't need this song to indulge that pleasure.

Usually after seeing prince perform a song live, I have a greater tendency to look at such songs with a greater degree of care and appreciation (such is true with "Let's Work" for instance.) I was just wondering if I'm the only one that can't seem to dig some of the songs that so many others swear by?

"Cream" is a "cute" song, but it doesn't do it for me...certainly not to the point that other's love it.

I dig the much cut about "Jughead" much more than "Cream".

And "1999" just doesn't do it for me either...that song is difficult to dance to.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I know, it's a terrificly beautiful song, and i love it every time i hear it, but somehow it doesn't 'stick'. When i'm thinking of Prince songs i like, this one will never pop into my mind. It's rather strange, but there ya go.

Oh, I almost forgot a tune that has always shocked me when others have sworn their love for it... "Bambi" I love Prince's guitar work and falsetto voice on numerous other songs but "Bambi" just leaves me cold.

I have never been a fan of Cream, and over the years I've come to really dislike Little Red Corvette. I've just heard it way too many times. Though it's a sing-along fan favorite, Raspberry Beret just doesn't do it for me. I could stand to never hear it again.

to my mind, 'When You Were Mine', was the song that the Beatles forgot to write.

The whole album? shocked I LOVE the album, but the song "1999" is overplayed.
I kinda liked the "New Master" version because it had that salsa part added.

I really love CREAM ... I think it's hot.

But I just can't stand PEACH ! The instrumental, the moans ... even his voice sounds yuck on that track. I just don't like it.
