Do any of you feel that being a fan has consumed your life?

I mean do you stay up on the org when you know you have to work the next day, spend more money than you have on Prince related "stuff"?

I have spent all day today browsing the org and npgmc, I am begining to worry that I have nothing else that interests me. What about you?

nah. this is just a slice of what i'm interested in, and it comes and goes in waves. a couple of years from now, i might be like "WHAT.org?" - "Prince WHO?" lol probably not - i HOPE not - but stranger things have happened. i have my writing, my boyfriend, my buddies, my job, my apartment, a TON of other musical obsessions, my improv classes and a frighteningly increasing obsession with scrabble keeping me busy.

That is how I have been in the past, I just recently, over the past two years, became really intense on Prince. I amazes me how much some of you know about Prince's music.

I can understand your intensity. We've all been through it at one time or another. I think it's always best to keep everything in perspective and in moderation.

I have never had the opportunity to go to any of the meet and greets that the org has or to any of the celebrations but I hope to get that chance in the future. My new husband is much more open minded and loves to see me have fun.

I've been a hardcore, dedicated Prince fan for 20 years now, and I've never thought of it as a consumption. But I have felt loneliness because I haven't met that many people who really care about Prince and his music the way I do. It seems like back in the 80's everyone was into glam rock and hair bands and in the 90's it was all about this alternative crap and maybe country. Now it's all about bubble gum pop and whatever...the point is, being a Prince fan can put u in a class by yourself, unless u have a lot of friends that are Prince fans. At least there's the ORG! biggrin

I have had the great opportunity to take 3 friends and turn them into Prince lovers and my Mother as well, after seeing his concerts. I had a Prince tattoo on my back and my Mother has the same tattoo just in different colors on her back. So I have had the pleasure of sharing Prince with some of the people closest to me.

I do agree to that. I think it is all the different journeys he takes us on through his music that makes his fans so dedicated.

No, but this past year has been quite eventful for me. Aside from joining the ORG and it's sister site the Quake, I went to four & 1/2 concerts ( remember the satellite broadcast ), at least two fan partys, and spent a ton of money, this was the most I have ever done for my man, he'd better appreciate it. eek eek wink
