is"rave un2 year 2000 video "-prince's worst ever on guitar with a few exceptions(she;s always in my hair, american woman, red house)
rave video is full of disconected licks, his playing was very emberessing that nite. he played like some guitar player that havent practise guitar for years. was he ever as bad as he was that night? you ever seen or witnessed more unispired moment by prince on guitar? if you where when was that?

Prince was into the whole "one instrucment shouldn't outshine the other ones" vibe at the time.
Ironic since he gave Maceo pretty much the spotlight on everything.

Um... no.
If Prince ever did have an embarassing moment playing guitar, it was while playing alone in his momma's basement. He established a GUITAR DOMINANCE in 1978, and has yet to relinquish it.

Must we go through one of these overanalytical threads again? My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

this is ridiculous. prince doesn't sound bad at all on rave 2000. he sounds impassioned, but a little rougher than usual. i love his playing on that vid and yes I have enough boots and albums to know he's done better, but it is certainly not bad at all.

Well, to be fair, I don't think he played very much guitar in just about all of 1998. Newpower Soul doesn't really have much guitar on it, and as I recall, the Beautiful Strange show didn't really have him do much on guitar either.
So he might have let his guitar playing go a little, but I still think he did fine at that concert. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

I enjoyed that show very much. I taped it and when it became available on VHS I purchased that and the DVD once it was released. Not only did he sound good he looked good. I thought it was a fantastic show. He showed a lot of talent that night as well as playing a few different instruments. The outfits he wore that night were awesome. The only thing I didn’t like very much was Larry Graham and company other than that it was a very entertaining show. IMHO P definitely got off on the guitar. What was it u didn’t like about his guitar playing? I’ve heard some people on this site disliking the concert but never hearing them complaining about his guitar playing, but again it’s a matter of opinion and u know what they say about opinions they are like assholes and every body got one LOL….

Rediculous!Maybe he wasn't in peek form, but the worst ever...?
That solo in American woman, though I didn't really like the sound of the guitar,is pretty great. As he was in those other pieces that night... Yes,on other nights he's probably better, but the worst ever??...Don't think so..

Don't take this personally, but ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUNKIN' MIND? The Rave video is definitely a sleeper, but in my opinion, it's some of his BEST guitar playing ever. He just comes on and shines from start to finish in that one. When VH1 replayed the pay-per-view events months later, and I heard the first four numbers, I danced harder than I had in months. Then when I bought the video, and saw him do the guitar solo in Red House, I nearly wet myself! I think that has to be, along with The Ride, the best guitar solo I've ever hear IN MY LIFE! No one, and I do mean NO ONE, played guitar better than that man. He does things to guitars that are beyond sex. ROCK ON!

I never picked up on the guitar especially but the whole concert was the only one which I get no enjoyment from watching, despite his playing of many songs that I love. Just thought the whole thing was piss poor. I was embarassed when some of my mates caught it on TV - Needless to say they were most unimpressed. I've watched it a few times to give it another try but it's without a doubt my least favourite performance of his in every way.

I think the worst thing about this concert is the awful (as in non-existent) stage design. It looked like they were in a high school gymnasium and they didn't have time to do a dress rehearsal. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

The concert as a whole is not very exciting for a Prince concert, but his guitar playing is pretty much like it always is--great in spots, muddy in spots.
His solo on Fly Away is great. Check this song out at:
