"On The Couch" was inspired by....

The movie "Love Jones" (of course) But, who here has NOT seen the movie? eye bought it back in 1999. eye loved it. Those who have not seen it should visit their local blockbuster! eye found a cute pic of the stars Larenz Tate and Nia Long (The pic looks recent... eye wonder if they r going out now hmmm ) The movie however, came out back in 1997

Here's a lil trivia 4 ya... In the movie Larenz threatens Nia 2 go out with him by basically stating that if she doesn't go out with him that he is going to be showing up at her door with P CD's cuz he comes out with new CDs every 4-5 months! hehehehe (u have 2 c the movie 2 really get it! )

eye'm a huge fan of Larenz eye actually spoke 2 him online when he did his first fan chat on his web site www.larenztate.com - Y'all should visit! he's so HOT!

Eye wonder if Larenz even knows that PRINCE made a song inspired by one of his movies! Eye don't think he's a fan though... eye mentioned P in the chat room, he was not impressed that Purple Rain was my Fav movie! LOOOL

I appreciate your post because I really didn't understand what he was referring to when he sang that line. Obviously, I haven't seen it but I will probably check it out now that I have some positive recommendations.

Given that the movie mentions Prince, I'm sure he watched it and thus the reference that turned up in the lyrics to "On the Couch." cool

"love jones" is one of the worst movies ever made.
say what you mean, mean what you say.
this movie and the 700 others just like it all suck big time!
i wish prince would stop referencing all this shit and start rocking again.
what the hell happened to this guy?
he used to be mysterious and rock n roll.
now he is an overtly-religious,pussy-whipped,ultra-conservative,
r&b oldies act.anyone these day's doing cover versions of "soul-man"
in their show, has some serious issues with whom his fan-base is.when
i saw the musicology show and prince and that fat-assed chance did "soulman"-i walked the hell out of the arena, got in2 my ride, fired up the velvet revolver cd ,and got the hell out of there with my dignity intact.that was the absolute bottom for prince if you ask me...horrid.
what happened?when did our prince lose his mystery and his macho?
maybe he should just keep watching movies like "love jones".
that movie was custom-made for wussies...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!

I'M SO IN LOVE WITH NIA LONG. I'm running out to see ALFIE, the new Jude Law movie, because from what I've read she's one of the love interests of the Alfie character...

Love Jones is wonderful. This is one of the few movies I can watch Over and Over again. For those who don't "get it".. have you ever been in love? I just love the whole Chicago Jazz vibe. The photography/cinematography, and a KILLER soundtrack. Again, one of the best soundtracks if you like jazzy r&b. I got into Sonia Sanchez (poetess) because of a reference in this movie. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. biggrin Oh, and this movie is also the reason that my favorite jazz song of all time is 'In A Sentimental Mood'.

the movie was okay but the soundtrack was what got me hooked. that soundtrack for the movie has to be one of the best soundtracks ever. who can beat the ultimate sex song when Maxwell sings the remix to "Sumthin Sumthin'"? and also Cassandra Jones' "you move me"...oh my i have got to pull that one out and put in my deck...
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
