I agree with meow85. I don't think Prince's androgyny was ever strictly a gimmick, although he did know how to exploit that quality of himself to his best advantage.

Prince obviously legitimately enjoys indulging his feminine side, and is attracted to such things as makeup and "feminine" stuff like lace, heels, etc etc. His openness to that part of himself one of the many cool things about him that I've always appreciated.

This suit wearing thing of recent times is probably the result of many reasons, not the least of which he just likes (and looks HOT in) suits. But he also gets bored and likes changing his look, and exploring fashion in general, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if one day he starts dressing more androgynously again. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if he begins dressing with enthusiasm in some OTHER type of style.

I just love it when he uses lots of eyeliner and mascara and eyeshadow. No man has ever looked more gorgeous in eye makeup than Prince. It's a waste not to dress up them peepers and he knows it. batting eyes

nod Even nowadays since Prince has decided to blend in with the crowd more, if you look close at pictures you can always spot at least a little bit of eye makeup.

Sometimes lip gloss too. smile

It makes me smile.

They're not tall pants though. They're pants with a bustier-type thing kinda built into the top. Only one of many Princely contributions to the fashion world.....

Am the only one who thinks that Prince should go back to the androgynous theme again? Like maybe do a couple of Camille albums with an updated theme?

Nowadays it's jehova-Prince, or Pimp suite Prince, butched up and more James Brown than ever.

Does anyone else long for a Lovesexy/SOTT error type look again? It was like Prince said, "HELL YEAH, I got me a set of big hairy Balls--But they sweat themselves and bounce around in lace panties and silky threads--ya got something against DAT?????"

Oh the good old days.

Well, I'm not so sure about the Lovesexy look. I have a Lovesexy bootleg album, and he almost looks like a drag queen on it. It's alluring, but not much more than that.

But as for the voice, I know what you mean. Also, when he does songs for others, there's what I'll call the "anonymous God" factor. For example, I just listened to Waiting Room, the collaboration between O)+> and Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, even though you know it's him, it sounds like it's "him with someone", almost like his Higher Self, or God, comes to sing along.

However, I'm not sure the Camille thing would happen. It seems like Prince has gotten all that out of his system. But you never know with this Prince guy. smile

Exactly, Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz and Prince have to let it go You can't look like that when you are getting older if they continue in that vein they would all look like Dame Edna, you wouldn't want that would you???? eek eek razz razz

Not the same thing at all. I don't think anyone's saying Dirty Mind Prince should stick around forever -that would be weird.

But why do most people seem to think that now that Prince is old (old my ass -he's only 46, and in damn good shape) he has to mellow out and start acting like every other boring middle aged person out there? Why does maturity have to equal zzz ?

I thought the suits was P's version of what JW's r meant to do. I've never been doorknocked by someone NOT in a suit. MayB if he's laying off the JW thing he might put the suits aside for a bit, but he is getting older... (and he's always liked suits!)

Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger look like old hags! barf They're what U look like after years and years of hard living and hard drugs. Prince looks and acts nothing like them. He looks damn good for 46: not a wrinkle or line in his face and a very fit body, not one that's been emaciated from drug abuse. I don't see how he's acting inappropriately by wearing suits. And if UR referring to the suits he wore during the Musicology tour, they were stage wear, for heavens sake! He does wear suits now out in public but they're not as outlandish as his stage ones are. And true genuis like him never "gives it up". They evolve and continue to make great music. His evolution is evident - he changes hisn look with every new piece of work he produces, and this one is his tamest by far.

you ain't the only one--i don't think 46 is old either, but still...the time will come when one really shouldn't dress the same way they did when they were in their 20s or whatever.
