You don't know who Che Guevera is? Geez... A revolutionary from Cuba who fought against the dictatorships, oppression and tyranny. Since his death, people have followed his ideals in revolutions, especially in Chile. His image represents his unforgotten idealism. He has become a symbol, an icon. But people ignorantly use his image for their own interest. Self interest and frantic consumption, nothing could be more vicariously gratifying than Che's disdain for material comfort and everyday desires. A lot of hip hop artists like Jay-Z wear those trendy popular shirts with Che's face but wearing a shirt with his face goes against what Che believes in... capitalism.
Prince and Che do not mix. Even though Prince says he is against Globalization, he's a hypocrite because it is inevitable, especially in the music business... he is a product of globalization because he does tours, is constantly buying things, etc.

Don't be pompous, everybody knows who Che is ;oP . But you are rigth on some point: people are blaspheming by using Guevara image in vain and without thimking about what it means. Anyway I think the point here was to protest against Prince materialism and ask him to "free the vault" and share with others. It could be a naive interpretation of communism but anyway the artwork was naive too.

Not to be bitchy but...Sorry to correct some info here,
First of all, Ché was from Argentina- (Rosario) (not from Cuba). He was a doctor coming from a medium social-class family. In one of his trips through Latin America, he realised of all the poverty and injustice going on there, so he left all his comfortable life and he started his battle against it (capitalist system included).
In Mexico in the mid '50's, he met a young Fidel (yeah, Fidel was in exile in Mexico). He helped Fidel to start the revolution to kick the Amerians out of Cuba and get Batista's dictatorship out of the government. After the revolution got the power he became Minister of Industry in Cuba (1961-65). Then he disappear from Cuba and appeared in Bolivia helping the poor people living in the countryside.

He was killed by the Bolivian Army in 1967

why should everyone know who he is, that is naive on your part, 2ndly...it a fucking picture for a bit of fun and it is in no way blasphamous as Ché never was, is or will be a religious figure.
3rdly I love it when people talk about Ché as they always omit the same thing that they do when they talk of Nelson Madella, which is that they where murderous terrorists too.....

I believe DandyDude's post was in response to ABeautifulOne stating they don't know who Che Guevara was. I didn't see anything pompous about it.

Ignorance is never something o be ashamed of... as long as you try to learn. As someone sai:"not interested in what you know, but in what you are willing to learn".
Still I feel strange about the fact that you don't know Guevara and at the same time are probably aware of all teh moves P made in the last 25 years...
