i personally just dont feel the need to call a man who wears make-up a 'gender fucker'. He is still a man, is'nt he? Is there a title which i can apply to a man who wears jeans and a t-shirt other than simply 'man'? I dont understand how by wearing make-up or dressing the way he does makes him anything other than who he is, a person, an individual. Gender roles are created by society. They are implanted in our minds as soon as we are born. For example, imagine buying clothes for a new born baby. Its blue for a boy and pink for a girl, right? Now, why is that? why cant a baby boy wear pink? Now imagine that you are gonna buy this child a toy. Whats it to be? a barbie for the girl and a G.I Joe for the boy?

I wasnt having a personal dig at anybody. I just find it uneccessary for labels such as 'gender fucker' and 'meterosexual' to exist. In a roundabout way they aid in keeping gender role barriers exactly how they always have been instead of breaking them down.

Anybody who wears make-up, be it man or woman, in my book are just themselves.

hcudcm is confusing terms a little. "Sex" is used to denote physical differentiation and is defined (mainly) by possession of male or female genitalia. "Gender" is used to refer to the cultural constructs "masculine" and "feminine" which are created with innumerable semiotic "signs" such as dress, language, behaviour etc.

Someone can mess with "gender" (the signs used regularly by the culture to differentiate between "masculine" and "feminine") without bringing into question their actual "sex" (male or female). I guess that's what would be referred to as "genderfucking".

Whether or not you think it's good or bad that society uses these signs to differentiate gender, they do. But each society is different. For example, here in Tel-Aviv lots of young males wear make-up (usually lightly) so it's not really genderfucking. However, if they were to do the same in Jerusalem, 45 minutes drive from here, it WOULD be genderfucking because there make-up is generally used only by women.

The point is that a male who uses feminine signs is no less male, and in fact one of the consequences and perhaps aims of genderfucking is to confuse those signs in the cultural discourse so that it becomes harder to define gender, and we become simply males and females (and transexuals!!!).

This seems to fit P. pretty damn well, and a great way to answer the "Is he straight or gay?" (or male or female) question.

This is where I have a problem with lables.
