Who in the heck is C. Moon?!?

On Prince's "For You" album, it is stated that the only song Prince did not exclusively write alone is "Soft And Wet" which is also credited to C. Moon for lyrics. Who is C. Moon and did this person ever work with prince ever again on any other projects? Thanks biggrin

Here's an excerpt from an article in UPTOWN mag about Chris Moon:

THE CHERRY MOON
An Exclusive Interview with Chris Moon

Chris Moon was one of the first to discover Prince's musical talent and he
was an important factor in getting his career underway. They met in 1976 when
Prince came through his Moonsound studio to record material with his band,
then known as Champagne. Moon had aspirations as a songwriter, having
written poetry and song lyrics since he was a teenager, and after seeing
Prince at work in the studio, he approached him about collaborating. In
exchange for writing and playing the music, Prince would get free studio
time. The deal served both well; Moon could turn his lyrics into songs and
Prince was able to learn about recording techniques and develop as a
songwriter and musician. Their teaming-up contributed to the breakup of
Champagne and led to Prince's decision to become solo artist.

In this interview, Chris Moon talks about his background and his early
attempts in the recording business, his collaboration with Prince, the famous
"naughty implied sexuality" approach to songwriting, and how he introduced
Prince to Owen Husney, who became his first manager. He also talks about what
he has done since parting ways with Prince, more than 20 years ago.

If anyone ever makes it up to Minnie, check out the former Moon Studios where For You was put to demo. It is so tiny, you wouldn't believe it.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Moon had a recording studio where Prince and the boys started recording a band demo. Prince would stay late, after the other band members had left and keep recording. Moon noticed that Prince had the chops, talent and the drive that the others didn't. Chris Moon eventually helped Prince make the For You demo, as Prince needed some help at the boards. Moon ended up shopping the demo with Prince, and the rest is history.

Chris Moon was pretty much just a dude with a small studio, that stumbled upon a star in the making.

Songwriting credits were given to him on the For You LP, but I can't remember how much he contributed.

Look for a video titled "Prince: Unauthorized". Chris Moon is interviewed and explains how he and Prince met. He also talks about how they got his career started and how it was working with him in the studio. Other things as well.

It was during the time of hippies, when it was uncool to be 'square' - Paul McCartney used his fingers to make a symbol the 'opposite' of a square - in other words, a circle. One hand makes a C, and the other makes a (half-)moon. Hence, C-Moon is the opposite of being uncool. At least, this was his explanation before playing the song on the Driving USA tour a few years ago. He probably explained it a little better than I did, too...
