Terrence Trent D'Arby is my Gary Numan artist. What I mean is that there's an artist in everyone's music collection that only had one or two moments in the sun and then seemingly slips back into obscurity, but still keeps recording, like Gary Numan. TTD is an amazing person and musician to listen to. His last album, Wild Card, was just that, a wild card, and didn't seem to have a lot of focus, but that's not a bad thing.
Just also in listening to Vibrator, while the same thing almost happens, it's a very mid 90s sounding album, all except for the last song, It's Been Said. When I first heard that, I think I listened to it about 50 times in the week following. I couldn't get it out of my head! I thin for TTD, my fave album is Symphony or Damn. Neither Fish Nor Flesh is also very good, but doesn't seem to have a lot of playability on radio. And then there's the debut, but we all know that was fonky!

Telling anybody who wanted to listen that he was going to be better than Prince, James Brown and whoever....and then came his Flesh/Fish-album..... he's got attitude-issues.....and his work doesn't impress me! [Edited 10/30/04 18:43pm] Yet, somehow he manages. sorry, i just thought that was hilarious.

What a deluded soul he is! Not the same ballpark, not even the same city. CO-SIGN!! Double co-sign Lenny thinks that, just because he's good friends with Prince,he is a genuis just like him.

He might not be a genious like Prince, Sananda Maitreya (TTD), David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder and some others, but sure knows how to perform and entertain. He even has some nice albums and some enjoyable songs. You might not like everything he's doing, but others will. He's doing his thing for 15 years now and still his albums sell and his concerts draw lots of people. I must say his concerts are great.

I like Prince. He is good musician and a quirky person, sometimes excessively so. I like Lenny Kravitz. He is a good musician, makes feel-good entertaining music and has a good heart, but makes mistakes and blunders like a human. I like TTD. I have his Greatest Hits and he has a beautiful voice.
I wouldn't want a duet from them, as pesto, ketchup and soy wouldn't probably taste very good mixed either. I like them all and have no grouches even if they behave like they got their heads up way high in the clouds sometimes. I'm very glad to see Lenny say such friendly things about both the others. Sirah I must say that it's so nice to see someone on this thread with something nice to say. I'm a fan of all 3 artists, but IMHO Prince is far more talented than Lenny and TTD. There are lots of Lenny haters on this site, but some fail to see what he's really like. He seems down to earth, caring, funny and he has some great songs. He has the highest respect for the true artists of the world, like Prince, John Lennon etc. One can't blame him for wanting to be like his idols, but some people would rather give props to the 50 Cents, Snoop Dogg's and Jay Z's of the world.

I can't even conceive of classifying SM-TTD with the rest of these people. And I have nothing against him. But on this list, he is outclassed. Seriously. S Filthy cute and baby U know it

Honestly, Symphony or Damn is one of the best albums I've ever listened to as far as I'm concerned. I think this guy is a major talent who doesn't get the recognition he deserved. OK, so maybe he's not Prince, Stevie, Bowie, Miles or whatever, but he's pretty damn good.

Lenny is weak! He jumped on stage at a P-Funk concert a few years back, that my buddy witnessed. He said they gave him a guitar and he looked like a lost boy. He was totally outclassed and blown away by Hampton and Blackbyrd. Lenny is no where near Prince's talent pass or present.

Lenny writes better rock songs than Prince? That is a funny quote. I used to go and see Lenny in my young days. Saw him on His Let Love Rule, Mama Said & Are yOU Gonna Go My Way Tours. They were good mostly because he had a killer band. After Are you Gonna Go My Way he forgot how to write a song and just went for the money. He Couldn't catch up with himself after that. Here is your great Rock Lyric
I Want to Get Away, i Want to Fly Away Yeah, Yeah, Yeah Freakin Terrible...my 5 year old niece is writing more quality songs than Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz needs to understand that he truly lost most if not all his talent somewhere in the corporate world.
