The BEAT of a song It annoys me to no end when I hear someone say they like the BEAT of a song. It seems like the vaguest thing one can say about a song. When U ask someone how the BEAT in the song goes, they never know and can never describe it. I mean if it's your favorite part of the song, U should be able to describe it. Am I alone in this frustration, or do others share it with me.

if I say I like the beat of a song, not only do I usually understand it and its rhythmic components... but i can almost always recreate it on drums (a bit slower) or on the computer from scratch. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

The beat is my favorite part of the song. I guess that's why I love fast music so much. When I say I love the beat of a song, I'm referring to the rhythm and the tempo. Something that makes your feet want to move and ass want to shake all on their own. Your brain hasn't caught up yet but you can feel your ass shaking in your seat all on it's own. That's what's missing in today's music, everything's for your head and nothing's for your ass. Music should have to pass an "ass approval test".
That's what trips me out when I hear younger people talking about today's hip hop and saying "listen to that beat". I'm like "What beat?...It's too fake sounding and too damned slow". Today's music is moving backwards instead of moving forward. Everything's getting slower and slower. [Edited 10/26/04 2:41am] Andy is a four letter word.

Man, I totally feel you on this! I wish I had a dollar for every time I found myself thinking this very same thing
