The album, Prince. Strange that he didn't self-title his first album, For You, but instead chose to do so for his second. Why was that? Perhaps none of the songs captured the promotion of it better. Any thoughts?
As the only real self-titled album (although some may argue Symbol also is), do you think the album Prince lives up to it's title?

Yes, it does. And even now it still stands.

I agree. Prince is one of my very favorite Prince albums. I mean "I wanna be your lover", "Sexy Dancer", "Bambi", "When We're Dancing Close and Slow"....oh man... I got-stah go listen to me some "Prince"! "this is where the PURPLE PARTY PEOPLE be"

Looking back, I think it's real cool he named the first album "For You'', cause it's about the music fans and striving to always give them something special; and then calling the second album after his name, "Prince''. Sorta like putting the fans first, as the very first song on For You says:
"All of this and more is 4 U With love, sincerity and deepest care My life with U, with U, I share © 1978 Ecnirp Music Inc. - BMI" Ya know? ... Combined with the Symbol album, I think Prince must be the first artist to have two self-titled albums! One more thing, it was real cool at the Buffalo concert when Prince came back for the encore after an absolutely great show and a long, 10-minute or more, standing ovation. He stepped to the piano and played the intro to Adore -- singing only "Until the end of time'' then stopping, as if to say "Y'all just don't know!'' The next line of course is "I'll be there for you.''

I would expect no less quirkiness from Prince. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

It's fairly common for artists to use their name on a later album. Janet Jackson did so way down the line with the Janet album. (I mention this as a JJ fan, based on looks as well as voice!) Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell.

i guess it stemmed from the fact that ol' boy wuz in a bit of a hurry 2 put his 2nd joint out, hence the self-title and like the front cover....sittin in front of a blue background.
