Prince Should Play SNL

I think it'd be a great way to promote the Musicology record...

I mean, by now, we should all know that there's gonna be a single release for A Million Days as there was a video shot for it...

Wouldn't it be sweet as candy if he did tracks from the album at SNL? Imagine the title track being done the way they do it live, The Marrying Kind/If I Was The Man In Your Life, A Million Days and finishing with a band version of Reflection...

WOW and YIKES!!

I'd LOVE it if Prince would perform on SNL but SNL would probably implode, not (recently) being used to having musical guests with actual talent and all...

They could always have the comedian who does the Prince skits go on stage and lip sync. It would just another night on SNL from what I can tell wink

nod Prince just sitting on stage for 10 minutes doing nothing but staring into the audience would be higher quality entertainment than 85% of what SNL has been offering in recent times.

(and I say the above with great regret, as I have been a huge Saturday Night Live fan for a long time and it makes me sad to see how unfunny that show has become. I'll always support it but gosh, sometimes they make it hard to do so. sad)

Snap

Prince should act on SNL -- that would be more fun (if they had decent skits); though, I would love to see a live performance of "If I Was The Man In Your Life."

Yes...doing his live version of Musicology...and a must...a Million Days...as many of you have said...SNL and its audience would not know what to make of a real live artist and musician...and well...hold on I'm speechless...yet again!

I'd love to see him perform "Cinnamon Girl" live on "Saturday Night Live" and come back later in the show and perform "A Million Days".

Doing "Saturday Night Live" is always a good idea for any artist. Prince has only done it twice in the past. He did "The Electric Chair" on one of their anniversary shows and he did "Partyup" (which I would love to have seen...one of the few older television appearances I missed) way back in the day.

Prince said the F word live on air in that performance. giggle

I'm sure saw a snippet of that performance once but it was so long ago I can't remember where I saw it. Wish I could see it again, though. I keep having memories that he either climbed INTO, or climbed OUT OF a box during that performance? Does anybody have a clue what I am talking about or am I just extremely confused? confuse

I saw that snippet also. It was on the anniversary show when they aired snippets of previous musical acts that had appeared on SNL. That's when I first found out that the "Partyup" performance actually existed.

Do you remember when SNL had another anniversary a few years ago and VH1 aired some of these performances in their entirety? That was great. I finally got to record Rick James doing "Super Freak". I only wish they had played "Partyup".

VH1 was great in the 1990s for airing old episodes of music shows. I got to record Prince on "American Bandstand", along with countless other musical acts that I recorded from "American Bandstand". I also recorded Rick James on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve", and The Jacksons on "The Midnight Special". I also recorded a lot of the "Don Kirshner" episodes. I also recorded the Prince performances on "Solid Gold". That's when VH1 was good.

BET needs to air the old episodes of "Soul Train".

I still need Prince's performance on "The Midnight Special". You would think that someone would release these on VHS or DVD.

I hate to say it but I have the Partyup performance and Prince's voice is not that cool. It's that I'm-hella-winded-from-jumping-around-before-I-sing-the-first-note voice. The only thing that is cool is that at the end - "Fight No Mo!" Prince throws down the mic stand and everyone storms off the stage. (He might have thrown down his guitar too, I can't remember) It was all very Diva dramatic.

I also have Prince on Soul Train doing Lovesign. I have a recording of that song where at the end you hear a crowd singing "pop pop pop go the pistol bang bang....." That's from the Soul Train gig. That was really cool.

see now I have to pull those performances out and watch them again.

Maybe I'll just ring the bell and leave it on the porch.

With strict instructions to return it clean, of course.

I have party up from snl and would love to post it on housequake or something but I don't have any webspace. Anyway, I like A million days but The Marrying Kind should've been the next single. That song is a top 10 waiting to happen.

I'd like to see Prince on SNL. He could play Cinnamon Girl and a maybe a new song, something not released yet. And he would have to be a guest on "The Prince Show" skit as somebody else. It could be alot of fun. Prince actually could be the host and musical guest.
