The Rainbow Children

I just got this album and I have to tell you, since I know you're interested, that it's terrible. mad

For one, it has this low pitched voice on it that makes me feel uncool and embarrassed in front of my friends.

Also, there are words from the bible in it, which must be wrong.

Real instruments - ugh! I don't get it. Where are the synths? Doesn't he know that my favourite albums are Dirty Mind and 1999. neutral

Wedding Feast - WTF? I can't listen to THIS in my car with my friends! It ruins the whole album for me. It actually makes other songs sound different, sound worse by its existence. He does a little laugh at the end of the song, but doesn't he realise that making music isn't about fun but pleasing the true fans?

Prince is trying to make jazz music, but this is nowhere near as good as the greats like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson and Archie Shepp. I can actually hear in his playing that he thinks he's playing hard-bop. Coltrane would kill Prince on the saxophone.

I'm off to listen to bootlegs with my friends.

Fuck y'all! Anyone that calls tracks like Family Name and Everlasting Now "elevator music" doesn't deserve to be a Prince fan. Plus: TRC is NOT a jazz album, is has some minor jazz influences but the album is much more than that! confused

How old are you 12? My friends, my friends, blah, blah, blah.

Family Name, Last December, The Work pt.2, Everlasting Now, She Loves Me For Me, 1+1+1=3 and some of the best (and funkiest) Prince songs in the last 15 years. Yea, the deep voice is obnixious, but the music is legendary. And the Bible speak? Prince has ALWAYS done this. I will agree wity you the Wedding Feast sux like Graffiti Bridge (the song) does. He streches the boundries and sometimes it doesn't work.

...Maturity is a blessed thing.

Truth.

but you are wrong about Wedding Feast. neutral It IS shit. Making music may be about fun, and yeah, yeah, everyone know's he's messing around but it's not funny.

Listening to it is like watching a useless stand-up comedian. It just makes you feel uncomfortable because it fails to be funny or fun, or entertaining or anything else.

It depends on where you`re coming from. First of all, the album "Dirty Mind" is driven by real drums, real bass, and real yamaha electric piano amd real fender tele...you name it. You`re so wrong on that one. And Prince does not know what you like. Maybe he even does know, but he doesn`t care, what about that my friend?

Prince is trying to make jazz music, but this is nowhere near as good as the greats like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson and Archie Shepp.

I can actually hear in his playing that he thinks he's playing hard-bop. Coltrane would kill Prince on the saxophone.

Does Prince play the Saxophone? And are we talking about the Olympic Games here? Is music all about virtuosity?

I'm off to listen to bootlegs with my friends.

That`s cool. I love my boots, dude. And i play the music i like for my friends, and they do the same with me. It`s not just about pleasing someone else, it`s about showing who you are, how you feel, what you like. You ain`t got no balls.

I've always been a bit torn on TRC. I understand why some people love it and I also understand why some people hate it. I think good cases can b built 4 either side. I personally have 2 b in the mood 2 listen 2 it. In my opinion, "The Work" and "The Everlasting Now" almost make "Family Name" and "Wedding Feast" 4givable.

- Ok, I understand the ´friends´ part. Some parts of it are indeed embarassing, but I think it happens to most Prince albums. Some killer parts mixed with some embarassing ones.

All this just betrays your obvious lack of popularity with people who know good music.

That's my point, Prince doesn't play sax. Coltrane plays it much better, and he's taller.
