I have always felt that "Something in the Water" has always displayed some sadness and anger towards someone in Prince's life at the time, probably a relationship gone wrong. I consider that to be a very emotional song.

I know this is a "to each his/her own" topic, but how can anyone consider 17 Days to be sad? The music is SO uplifting and upbeat, you almost can't help but dance! It's probably his best or second best uptempo B-side!!

I don't normally concern myself with sad things as I am normally a happy person but it has got to be "come back" without a doubt. Second place goes to "I love u but I don't trust U anymore".

The saddest song that I have ever heard has got to be the theme song from "Forest Gump". That song really makes me sad because the song reminds me of how life flies by. How you walk though life. You have ups and downs. You loose friends, you gain new friends but most of all you grow older and oh my God that is the worst part. Not one day goes by where I do not wish that I was 8 again. Lying on the floor in my old childhood room and playing with Lego after school together with my friends. No worries about job, money, relationships etc etc just playing all day. My God those were the days. It is such a long time ago but the memories are very clear to me because they were so good.

Anyway that was a bit of a sidetrack but that has got to be the saddest song I have ever heard.

"Another Lonely Christmas" is a very powerful, moving song, especially the 12" version. I won't say it makes me cry, but it does emote sadness. I do see that song as Prince's attempt to create a "Christmas song" for the hell of it, though. What could be sadder on Christmas? Someone who died on Christmas. Yeah, that's a concept! Pneumonia? Sad. Stress? Well, the lyrics didn't mention any amount of stress, unless the female really got upset over losing at pachino for money or that her father caught her and Prince skinny dipping in his pool. And what is Prince doing checking her sister out on the lake. Yeah, I BET she's grown. Good heavens. And how do you hear smiles and tears? The ending is the saddest part, though, after guitar solo and the way it quiets down. It's too bad Prince doesn't believe in Christmas anymore. Does anyone ever try to get a DJ to play that song during Christmas time? I bet they don't even know it.

"Pussy Control"

The only song that consistently brings a tear to my eye is Venus de Milo.

Even though it's meant to be uplifting, I also find Comeback very sad and difficult to listen to.

I bet the saddest Prince song would have been "Wally" if he hadn't erased the tape back then.
Besides that I would say "Wasted Kisses" or the beginning of "Anna Stesia".
