Agreed, but I'll still take it. You'd think Prince, given his reputation as a live performer, would release superior quality DVDs on a regular basis, but his DVDs are few and far apart, and I'll take them over nothing.

I only have a few Prince DVDs, but I think this one is my favorite. As far as live concerts go, it is more fun to watch than "Rave Un2 the Year 2000" or the "Sign 'O' the Times" show. My only other Prince DVDs are either movies or the video collection, so that show at the Aladdin really stands out in my mind.

Make yourself an audio CD from the DVD audio and you'll enjoy the 70 minutes more, I think. I do. "Strollin/U Want Me" is really fun to listen to. The DVD is clearly low budget, but then again, it wasn't an expensive item to purchase, either.

It is my favorite Prince DVD, a very good band doing some excellent performances. The video quality and flow of this DVD could be better, but I sill thoroughly enjoy it.

I just cringe watching the Rave DVD, yuk!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I think this was a very soulful and funky show ... but somehow I didn't feel that Prince vibe... he somehow seemed tired to me ... the music was great and the band also ... but something is definitely missing, for me at least.

eek

£15 for what it is (in the UK this is the price at the large music stores - hmv / virgin etc. in the UK - or at least was, - haven't checked today neutral ) is a fuckin rip off.

but yeah, as savoirfaire said: better than nowt.

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention the one thing that REALLY annoys me about this DVD. The first three or four songs end with Prince's "Owww-wwah!" It seems a little forced to me.

I just watch this concert the other day, beside a few bad editing moments I think it's great.

When I think of the Red Hot Chili Peppers ´Slane Castle´ DVD, I think Prince´s is poorly done. But I think Prince´s idea was to focus on a ´clean´ concert based on the music only. It was the spirit of the whole ONA tour.
I just don´t like the first songs...I would open it with a more energetic-guitar-driven song like TRC....but he probably didnt do it because this one opened the live CD.
There could have been more extras too...like a Soundcheck, or aftershow...

I agree, it was just P and his tight band. I think it's a brilliant show and made for us fans, not for a big audience.

That's my problem with the show - the leanness of it should have been reflected in the camerawork and editing, Instead, they seemed to be trying to make a big 'music video' out of the show. Rave is the same way, with all of its silly slo-mo takes.

I just don't understand these editors and DPs... you're filming possibility the most engaging performer ever... just get the camera rolling, and go sit down, fool!!! razz
