I married outside of my race, but not because of Prince. I had good sense to recognize a good man, even if he does look a little different than what I thought "Mr Right" would look like. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

No, my horizons were already expanded before I got into Prince. But his music has been a nice soundtrack to my interracial experiences. The song Uptown really resonates with my beliefs about life and dating. Beauty comes in various forms and is found throughout all races and ethnicities. I honestly feel sorry for people who cannot get over themselves and the views held in SOME segments of our society. Honestly, we live in a heterogeneous country, where the urban centers are filled with so much variety. It's a shame to limit yourself. [Edited 10/23/04 13:58pm]

Guess what? I should have tried another approach.
The truth of it is that now I see black men as much classier than some white men that I've known and others who are like what SnowQueen said: "Prince's influence prompted me to date a few people who, in retrospect, I think were outside the HUMAN race." [Edited 10/28/04 7:07am]

I heard that Prince would not talk to or date a married woman. I think this waas aroung the time he was between Mayte and Mani. Then I wrongly figured that if I dated a black man, my husband would divorce me. Paper was all that was holding our marriage together. I'd be single and at least be able to hope to one day talk to Prince. That meant more to me than anything. He felt like he was my lost twin, like a magnet. Guess what? So why would you choose to use a black man to do something you yourself needed to do?? And I take great offense to your comments about white men. But then you did say the men you know.... Considering how effed up your logic is, I think 'birds of a feather..." I think you need some time. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack
