im not really sure, i think its 23
but from a musicians point of view its not really much of an acomplishment
once you know the basic music notation
its pretty easy to pick up an instrument and learn it
its like learning to use machinery
the hardest instrument to learn in my opinion is the piano
everything else is pretty easy

I think it's 26. But keep in mind that he's counting maracas, the tamborine, kazoo...

HE does not only play 4 instruments, he is proficient on 4 instruments. Man, i picked a banjo once and i played some songs when my friend told me the tuning, and it sounded good, any guitar player with good musical theory can play banjo, and bandolin for example. Keep in mind Prince is millionare and must have tons of musical instruments. I remember him saying he plays harp, terrence trent play harp too. And it must be true cause they used to talk about angels and mystic things, it´s appropriate. There are some instruments pretty easy to play when you have good theory or good ear, (that Prince has).

Like mouth harmonica and sweet flute (not transersal). Don´t underrate Prince, HE probably play tons of instruments, but don´t overhate the fact that he does it, because TONS of musicans are like this. His talent is because he is a one man band and he plays the basic instruments (bass,guitar,drums,vox,piano) pretty well on a profissional level.

Prince plays many instruments, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't play any horns or strings (obviously guitar and bass are technically strings but I'm talking about violin etc..)

Incidentally, Prince isn't that unique in that regard. There are plenty of musicians out there who are proficient on several instruments. Ray charles was conversant on sax, piano, clarinet and obo, james brown was a virtuoso organ player and also played drums, Stevie, Sly, Bootsy, Larry, Macca, TTD, Bowie and Todd Rundgren all play/played as many instruments as prince and more.
