Right or wrong, Prince does it his way, always has, always will, and it's got him to where he is today, so who can argue? If he thinks he knows better than a monitor mixer, then let him do it himself, at least he can't complain at you afterwards if it sounds like crap.

These stories are probably from around the time of the Gold Experience tour. Certainly he wasn't a happy bunny during that time. In The Vault book it mentions him firing a few sound engineers and actually controlling the sound board from the stage himself - I guess the 'on-stage dressing room' they refer to is the big central 'vagina' room that was part of the set for the tour.

Actually, there's also a bit about that stage set - he got his old set designer in (Bennett?) to comment on the set which was designed by a some 'newbie', and he said it was too big and cumbersome to transport around, all the rounded bits wouldn't pack easily. But in the end, Prince took the whole set to England, discovered it WAS too cumbersome, and ditched half the set in England after only using it in it's entirety a couple of times!

Not really one for listening to wise advice, is he?!

I did hear a rather interesting one about a visiting engineer who brought a Big Mac into Paisley Park. Big no-no apparently.

Didn't they film McDonalds commercials on the Paisley soundstage?

rolleyes When it relates to Prince, some of us are still dwelling on the past. I'm sure most of these stories about past events are true, but it is the past.

I'm glad to see a more calm- and less arrogant-Prince.

It wasn't that fact that it was McDonalds that was an issue, it was the fact that it was a burger. The meat was the problem. This was during that hard-core vegan time. I'm sure if you want to take a burger in there now, it's probably okay.

Also, they don't usually use real food when they film fast food commercials, so maybe it wasn't an issue when/if a MickeyD's commercial was shot there.
