Songs Prince has written

Does anyone have that site bookmark that has most of the songs Prince has written for other people handy? I came across it some time ago and didn't bookmark it. Wish I could find that site again.

I don't know the site you're talking about but here's a few tracks recorded by other artists to get you started, I'm sure people will add more (org project in motion) biggrin

Dale Bozzio - So Strong
Kid Creole - The Sex Of It
Dayna Kurtz - Joy In Repetition
Chaka Khan - Sticky Wicked
Patti Labelle - Yo Mister
Joe Cocker - Five Women
Kenny Rogers - You're My Love
Hefner - Controversey
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To You
Deborah Allen - Telepathy
Misty Dixon - The Beautiful One's

That should get the ball rolling.

The versions by Kurtz, Hefner, O'Connor and Dixon were simply covers. The others were the versions as a result of songs that Prince 'gave' to that artist.

This page by Jon Brode is a pretty good start (but about 10 years out of date) although you should note that the writing credit that Prince has for Stevie Nicks' 'Stand Back' was really a thank you for inspiration.

Don't forget Manic Monday by the Bangles.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I just "discovered" the song Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This by Will Downing, and it sounds an AWFUL lot like a Prince tune.

Anyone have any info on this?

Hmmm...it reeks to me of Prince though. Reminds me of "Insatiable".

I don't know.. something about the lyrics:

Damn, I wish I was your lover
I'll rock you till the daylight comes
Make sure you are smiling and warm
I am everything
Tonight I'll be your mother I will
And I'll do such things to ease your pain
Free your mind and you won't feel ashamed

(maybe I'm thinking too much along the lines of I Wanna Be Your Lover... with the wanting to be a mother and stuff)..

Also the lines:

We don't need no doctor to feel much better

Shucks, for me there is no other
You're the only shoe that fits
I can't imagine I'll grow out of it

It just sounds like his way of writing to me... again, maybe I am thinking back to other songs (ex: the acting your age not your shoe size line in Kiss)

but that's all... smile ~
