Snap

i don't think i'd want to see such a movie... it'd probably focus mostly on the Purple Rain period, his name change, and the battle with Warner Bros. who could even come close to portraying him? i cringe to even imagine

Hollywood being what it is, an industry that stands for the portrayal of real people in real situations from a true historical point of view, I would have to say Arnold Schwartzenegger. Only a true Hollywood superstar/politician could provide the depth and deep emotion of our troubled genius. His portrayal of one mans struggle against the world set against the backdrop of pure funk would be outstanding and a wonder to behold.

Of course, a little artistic liscence is always allowed these days so I dont think anyone would mind a few slight deviations from the historical truth. I know Prince never walked into the head office of Warner Brothers with an AK-47 and blew the shit out of anyone in his sight, but in order to convey the deep troubles Arnie the slave had with the industry, this would be an excellent metaphorical depiction of true events.

And lets be honest, Arnie would command that certain 'je nais se qua' and incredible stage presence depicting the ultimate live showcase. I can hear it now - "Shodop already, damn! Iyll be back modder focker... On da one, huh!"... As he then sprays the audience with lead...

Good question.

Who could pull that off -- playing PRINCE?

Hmmmm, what about Victor Rusak's real life brother, Silvestre Rusa? He is in "RAISING VICTOR VARGAS" and he is soooo cute, plus he has that narrow head and nice mouth shape and nice brows and look at that hair (esp. in the movie when the grandmaw is washing his hair for him -- oh my!). Well, he is skinny enough to play PRINCE, too. And in the movie, Silvestre looks so good playing a little ditty (on the piano) for his grandpaw and his sister and brother. I could see him playing PRINCE!

And no one better say Dre3000; his head is too big!

Excellent pick! I really liked him in "Shakespeare in love". I could totally see him doing "Prince". Look at the eyes, look at the eyes. Add some suntan, a black curly wig, a ruffled white shirt and a purple coat and he could play a convincing Prince...

I love love LOVE Jeffrey Wright - he was fantastic in "Angels in America" and he totally kicked my butt in "Basquiat".

If it were like ten or fifteen years ago, he'd make a perfect Mr. Purplepants. nod
