Sort of - yes. It's just a title and not meant as a serious challenge or anything. They became friends during the same era.

Oh, without doubt. I've always felt so.

Is the song any good? I've never listened to the album being that all his fans and all his critics say it's garbage. The singles didn't do much for me either.

We were at Paisley when he started toying around with it. During a show, he was asking us if we liked Lenny Kravitz. He suggested picking up Lenny's then new album, "Circus" because, "it's got a lotta nice songs on it." Then he was kinda joking around about the song, "Rock N Roll Is Dead" and said something to the effect of, "I don't know about ya'll but I think rock n roll's alive...and lives in Minneapolis." Then, it just started off as a crowd chant that was a staple at other later Paisley shows. And then one night, we were handed a lyric sheet with lyrics to a song called, "Rock N Roll's Alive (And It Lives In MPLS)." And he played the studio version over the p.a. saying it would be the b-side to "319" which was the intended second (technically 3rd) single from "TGE", instead of the title track. I think it's an okay track. Even then, it kinda felt like he was a little low on ideas. Especially when compared to "TGE."

I actually quite like the song.....though u can maybe tell he is drifting over to "emancipation" like clean cut drum programming recording technique though,,,,,
The vid had him wearing a very silly ski-ing like outfit with big, thick ski boots or something.....he even had the goggles.....anyone remember that?

I was there, too! I believe he and the band were playing "Get Wild" (off the Exodus CD) when he went into the "Rock n roll is alive". He said "I think rock n roll is alive and livin' right here in Minneapolis, kiss my ass! Lenny Kravitz, you're my homie, but DAMN!" [Edited 10/16/04 18:02pm]
