Acknowledge Me, Hide The Bone, Cloreen Bacon Skin (impromptu maybe, shit nonetheless), PoomPoom and Da Bang are just plain awful.

I've probably listened to "She gave me Angels" once... but listened to "Sexual Suicide" about 300 times.... I like wicked prince.

PS how many poeple are so used to hearing "last heart" go straight into "sexual suicide" (without the opening vocal exclamation)? This is how it was on bootleg since 1990....

If Prince would've cut down "emancipation" and "crystal ball" to one disc fans would endlessly bitch and moan about him not releasing all of the songs... "Why doesn't he release the vault, it'd cut down on bootlegs blah blah blah".

Many people have told me to get over it, but I'm going to bitch about Crystal Ball till my dying day. Prince completely screwed us. All 3 discs would have easily fit onto 2 cd's. Therefore we could have had an additional 3rd disc at 75+ minutes in length. Why, with all of the material Prince has would he do this? To be fair to him, he'll never satisfy everybody's demands about which songs to release, but it seems like common sense when you are making a box set to make each disc as long as it can possibly be! I LOVED Acknowledge Me, Da Bang, Calhoun Square, Ripopgodazippa, and Poom Poom along with So Dark and Good Love. The rest of your choices are the weakest ones IMO. Especially Crystal Ball with all the background noise. It takes away from the song.

My only complaint with Crystal Ball
is not filling each cd to the brim.
That waste of space just drives me crazy.
It shouldn't - but it does.

I still think Crystal Ball is an excellent set compared to the material released since even though the songs don't really flow together very well, but most of the songs are good.

I did that to both Crystal Ball and Emancipation.
Made 1 greastes tunes disc for each set and then when I get tired of them I go back and listen to the obscure stuff I passed over.

What really adds insult to injury, in my opinion, is the little booklet telling you why you're supposed to like some of these lame-o tracks - "Oh I see, So Dark, is actually a 'phatter' version than the original? Silly me, I thought it was a cold, dull-ass remix! And the NPG Dancers enjoyed shakin' their booty to Tell Me How You Wanna Be Done? Well, I must be a moron if I don't like that one!"

I love Crucial, Sexual Suicide, Hide the Bone, and more than a few others, but to quote that little ol' lady from the 80's, "where's the beef?!?"

I agree that there is much better stuff in the vault than there is on "Crystal Ball". I do like more than one disc's worth of material though. Now, he could have kept "The Truth" disc though.
