The problem with your question is that you need redefinition of what constitutes a Prince "era".

You simply gave us three that you created. Prince, , or Prince after 2000. Two of these "eras" are 9 years or less-while one encompasses 15 years.

What you have to realize is that damn near every new album is a new era for Prince (new style of dress, new mantra, new emphasis, new ideas.) Within what you call "The Prince era" there are over ten different stages. The purple ruffles and lace of "Purple Rain", the punk/new wave rudeboy of "Dirty Mind", the zaniness of "Lovesexy", etc.

Redefine what you consider an era and why and you'll get better answers.

That strange period defines fury, frustration and madness....and what a band. Hard-edged and loose...no frills, just funk.

For me, he was discovering music all over and learning how to like himself again.
