I SEE WHAT YALL SAYIN BUT BOTTOMLINE IFNWE HAD 2 COMPARE BOTH THE BETTER WOULD BE "THE HITS" BUT BECAUSE OF THE B-SIDES I LOVE THE MUSIC SO I BOUGHT BOTH BUT THE VERY BEST ONLY 2 HEAR MONEY DONT MATTER BUT THAT WAS UNTIL I BOUGHT DIAMONDS AND PEARLS BUT I HAVE EVERY PRINCE CD THERE IS SO IT ALL DEFEATS THE PURPOSE. UNTIL U REALIZE U HAVE HARDCORE FANS AND JUST PURPLE RAIN FANS AND THEN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE WHETTHER PLATINUM OR NOT

Well, if I know the Org--and it's been a long time since I've spent some time here--this topic has been discussed to death and then beaten again...but I just wanted to add my opinion on the "the very best..." cd:
It's not that I don't like to see any Prince CD sell well (except maybe NPS)but I would rather WB didn't dilute his vast output with this CD or any future Greatest Hits CDs(cuz you know damn well they will). The last thing I want to see in 20 more yrs is a bunch of greatest hits crap on the shelves like you do with Sinatra, Santana, Hendrix, Van Morrison and countless others-which just cheapen the artist's legend in my opinion. Most of the greatest hits CD's don't give a broad enough view of the artist's diverse style and musicianship. In P's case, even more so because he has re-invented himself so many times(it's mindboggling actually). Anyway, nuff said right? (Formerly Sanchristian) --Peace, piggies!
