Controversy is def. in my top 5 of favorite Prince albums. I know what people say about Controversy, that it's just an extension of dirty mind. Sure.... The song Controversy itself was waaaaay ahead of it's time. Nothing on dirty mind can touch that song in my opinion. Let's not forget about the raw power of Sexuality, Do me baby, one of his best ballads, and the crazy Annie Christian. Did I say top 5? Sorry. I meant top 3, After Sign of the times and 1999 | |

almost forgot to give my props to this album...a friend of mine got a copy of this on tape for my 18th birthday (i still have that tape too, but it's at my dad's house). damn near wore it out...my fave cuts on here are the title track, "let's work" (especially the 12"...yummmm  ), "annie christian", "private joy", "jack u off" and "do me, baby" (nevermind the infamous last minute of the song, it's still the hottness).
i only do it for a worthy cause...virginity or menopause...  | |

I love the album, awkwardly released in between Dirty Mind and 1999, an album where Prince was testing his new found sound, perfecting it.
While Do Me Baby amd Controversy seem to be his faves from that album, I always have a soft spot for two other songs; Sexuality and Private Joy, of which I would love to hear Private Joy performed live... But I have learned not to pour my own wishes into the Princely Universe.... yer bound to get disappointed. | |

I fucking love this album!!
Since this comes on the heels of the "Dirty Mind" appreciation thread (let's bump that one for the hell of it  ) let's give special props to
Sexuality: Partyup Part II. One of his best "message" songs ever. They're all a buncha double drags Who teach the kids that love is bad Half of the staff of their brain is on vacation! Mama, are you listening?
