Wendy, In This Bed & Reflection The song "In This Bed I Scream" was dedicated to Wendy, Lisa, & Susannah.
He performed the song "Reflection" with Wendy. If you listen, there is an instrumental line that occurs in both songs. It serves pretty much the same purpose musically in both songs, happening in between vocal lines--for example, just before "How did we ever lose communication..." Has anyone noticed this, and do you think this was intentional or just a coincidence? Check this song out at:

I believe it was intentional.

He used this a lot in The Rainbow Children Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

Hmmm, sounds like an inconsequential bridge, but would be fun to think it was intential

It sounds to me like some of the same chords are used for both songs.
Don't know for sure, but it could have been intentional.

Any examples of where? i'm Sorry, I meant he used the device of copying little phrases from past songs into a lot of TRC's music. For example the five or so notes just before the line "Jamie Starr is a thief" in DMSR show up in the begining of 1 plus 1 plus 1 is three. Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

How could he not with so many songs? Someone pointed out My Computer & Musicology share music recently. I wouldn't suspect that it's intentional in this case except for the Wendy connection. I think everything on TRC is intentional, It has to do with relationships, here his with his past music Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

There is a tool in opera, I think it's called leitmotif, where certain musical phrases represent specific characters. So whenever they enter you might hear that phrase, or even when referring to them.
I'm sure it's something that would have occured to Prince. Check this song out at:
