Naah, I think it drops off a bit towards side two. The way "So Blue" pauses really gets to me. Still, it's a great, great record.

Liking is subjective, there is no wrong or right. I love the 'Dirty Mind', '1999', 'Parade' and 'Sign O' The Times' albums. All, generally held in high regard. 'For You' has never made a mark on me, perhaps with the exception of soft & wet. I doubt that the music world would have lost very much if this album had never been released (in the artisitc sense). 'For You' is impressive in the sense that the kid who made it did a great job seeing as it was pretty much a one man effort. However, it is far from vital. There is far too much vital work availible to waste it listening to the pleasant 'For You'. To state that one has no soul simply because they do not like this record is ludirous. Go play an Al Green record, my friend. Only my opinion, of course. [Edited 10/3/04 12:11pm] You do as I say

I'd definitely soil my pants in one way or another Imagine him breaking out w/ It's Gonna Be Lonely or I'm Yours or My Love Is Forever... Or at an aftershow, lingering his way into When We're Dancing Close & Slow... OH LAWD!!! I know I'm combining songs from Prince & For You. They blur in my mind... nicely

I was saying that it is not vital in the sense that it can be removed from Prince's body of work and it would still pretty much remain the same. Take Dirty Mind or 1999 Outta the picture and you got a different story, child. You do as I say

For You
Soft And Wet Just As Long As We're Together Baby I'm Yours I'm Yours basically established his guitar dominance for the next 25 years, so this album is great just for that song alone! That's both electric and bass guitar dominance!

FOR YOU is actually a damn good album. I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow I can do what you can't.

I adore this album all the way through.
Two of the worship-worthy gems on this fantastic record: Just As Long As We're Together - without this song, Handclapsfingasnapz would have no Orgame! I'm Yours - 70s rock/soul masterpiece! The Normal Whores Club
