Sleep Around - A forgotten gem! I remember when Emancipation came out and this was one of the tracks that I liked. I also remember when Prince performed it on Oprah back in 1996. It was so cool! That performance actually made me like the song a whole lot better. It's definitely a forgotten gem to me.
I don't understand why folks didn't like this particular TV appearance. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

you know, even though it seemed about 96% pantomimed, i liked his performance of "sleep around" on oprah too...maybe it's mainly because it's the only time i've seen that song performed, and it's one of the songs from emancipation that i actually think is pretty catchy (okay, i'm a fan of most of disc III).
i think that episode overall is pretty melancholy at best, considering prince and mayte had to play like nothing was wrong right after losing the baby, and prince had to go on television and shuck an album after dealing with such a big tragedy. knowing what we know now, going back and watching that oprah episode is kinda painful.

Well, actually that episode was taped before their tragedy, wasn't it? At that point there were just rumors about the baby's health in danger. But Prince was like, "it's all good". No, it was taped afterwards. The baby only lived a few days.

Btw , of course i saw it too (and even liked it)
and yeah that song's ok , but it's sounds JUST like "Tell me how u wanna b done " (the only difference is that one is in major and the other's in minor) The resemblance it's just so obvious , i never really noticed it up to now , tho. [Edited 10/11/04 17:12pm]

Totally love that song, and yes Prince looked so good performing it. He was way 2 sexy. I remember my son watching that performance and couldn’t believe how good Prince looked. If I can remember he was wearing a beautiful blue suit. Oprah loves her some Prince LOL!

One of his best songs. One of my favourite songs. I play this song on repeat about 5 times and still can't get enough of it. I got all wet when I saw him perform this.
going to put this on now!
