I'd better check my clock. I didn't realize, it was that time of the week already, for this thread to resurface.
Lovesexy is still the one. Followed by: Parade Sing ‘O’ The Times Purple Rain / 1999

The problem with your question is that you need redefinition of what constitutes a Prince "era". You simply gave us three that you created. Prince, , or Prince after 2000. Two of these "eras" are 9 years or less-while one encompasses 15 years. What you have to realize is that damn near every new album is a new era for Prince (new style of dress, new mantra, new emphasis, new ideas.) Within what you call "The Prince era" there are over ten different stages. The purple ruffles and lace of "Purple Rain", the punk/new wave rudeboy of "Dirty Mind", the zaniness of "Lovesexy", etc. Redefine what you consider an era and why and you'll get better answers. "New Power slide...."

I didn't realize I had gotten "hot with you." I didn't get hot wit U, I didn't get hot wit U I would've chatised you if I was hot about it. It struck me funny, that like clockwork, this thread popped up again. I was cool enough to post a reply.

I agree 100%, although Sign O The Times and Lovesexy kept my interest. But, 1980-1984 from his albums, to his work for The Time, to Vanity6, etc., all was just awesome. The man just didn't miss. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

id have 2 say Prince I think some people may have read this as "Which was his best time, no matter which name he was using" So to answer they way I read it: 1986 - he seemed to be having so much fun To answer they way you intended: Prince

I'll be the black sheep and say Come/Exodus/Gold Experience/Chaos Prince.
That strange period defines fury, frustration and madness....and what a band. Hard-edged and loose...no frills, just funk. For me, he was discovering music all over and learning how to like himself again.
