Fingers crossed...but its hardly official! A bit misleading.

If my old WB rep had been right with every "scheduled" Prince release, we'd all have a CD collection twice the size now. lol

This just in: The DVD will take longer than usual to release. The professionally shot film stock must first be converted to VHS tape, run through a mid-eighties era VCR and re-shot using a Handi-Cam pointed at a television screen.

and that's not even counting all the hours Tina "Towell" Graham is gonna spend making
home vcr copies off that to distribute to fams who will then burn dvd copies from those
vcr tapes.

What would everyone like 2 see on this DVD?

I'd like 2 have:

-One great US concert as the main feature

Bonus material:

-the 3 music videos (Musicology, Call My Name, Cinnamon Girl)
-2004 TV apearances
-an unedited aftershow as a bonus disc
-a 'behind the scenes' doco of the tour, maybe some of the footage recorded of Prince talking with fans from last year's Australian tour.
- band member profiles and interviews

It will never happen, but that's what i'd like 2 see

hmm...applying lessons from what we have learned in the past...let's see what we can expect.

So, the 'facts' are: the original show was two-and-a-half hours long
the original show was exciting, and with a great atmosphere.
there are a host of promo vids from the album fans would like to get hold of.

Ok...so, let's put that all in the Purple Mixing Pot and see what is most likely to end up in our hands:

A one-hour edited, over-dubbed highlights package - featuring 'bonus tracks' such as the Hall of Fame speech and 'Purple Rain'....
wink

I don't think we'll ever get a complete show on DVD during P's lifetime. It will probably be the same length as the Aladdin DVD.

This is great news. His show was too good to NOT make a concert DVD.

Prince's publishing deal, signed several year's ago, is with Universal, who administer the Controversy Music rights (registered with ASCAP).

As regards distribution, he struck a deal with Universal for 'Prince Live At The Aladdin Las Vegas' DVD.

The distribution deal for the 'Musicology' release is with Sony (and subsidiaries).
.

UM Publishing is promoting Musicology on their site, so now what? LOL

Of course Universal will promote 'Musicology' on their site. In reality, they promote every album that Prince has released regardless of the record company associated with the marketing, distribution etc (i.e.Warners, EMI, Arista, Sony ...)

They have a publishing deal with Prince / Controversy Music. It's likely that every time they collect the publishing money due to Controversy Music, they take a an administrative percentage - so they have everything to gain from promoting the latest album ... and all of his past releases.

If there is going to be a Musicology DVD, then it should be the MSG 3rd show with the Time and Shelia E guessing!! On disk 2 there should be the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction, videos of Cinnamon Girl, Musicology & On the Crouch!! The Grammy performance with Beyonce!!!

Then posted the thread I heard the rumor from.

If this rumor is true... there wont be a Musicology DVD.

Uh... well, um, how can I put this in layman terms?

You see the name of this thread is: 'Its Official. Prince DVD this year.'

Everyone is speculating it will be a "Musicology Tour" DVD. Are you following me?

Someone on www.housequake.com is stating that the DVD slated for this year, will be the "Sign ‘O’ The Times" movie.

In otherwords, if this rumor is true... you guys will go to Best Buy expecting a "Musicology" DVD and will be disappointed, if it's only "SOTT."

I hope that clearly spells out my point, and corrects any confusion.

And of course, all rumors are true. There may not even be anything. Anyhow how did that concert in Paris go? Oh sorry, that was a true rumor too.
