Its Official. Prince DVD this year. I work for a record distributing company. I spoke to a Sony rep this past week and we were discussing the Cinnamon Girl video and without asking he said that a concert DVD will be out later this year. He didnt have the street date on him. Im gonna email him to get that info. Thought you guys would like to know. (Insert something clever here)

Now that's some hot news. Thanks for the info and I look forward to your next post on what's on it! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Isn't the distribution done by Universal Music not Sony?? My bad, I just woke up. I actually think Columbia is manufacturing and distributing this record. I deal with lots of reps. They are all pressing for good store placement. Espeially in Wal-Mart. (Insert something clever here)

I just dug out his business card and he works for SONY Music Distrobution. He was in the store putting up posters and fliers for Good Charlotte and Lostprofits. He said that the deal with Prince is so distrobution exclusive, they didnt even get free concert tickets. They almost always get free tix for Dallas shows. Anyways, he always knows his business so Im pretty excited about it. (Insert something clever here)

Prince's publishing deal, signed several year's ago, is with Universal, who administer the Controversy Music rights (registered with ASCAP). As regards distribution, he struck a deal with Universal for 'Prince Live At The Aladdin Las Vegas' DVD. The distribution deal for the 'Musicology' release is with Sony (and subsidiaries). . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

are u 4 real?this is a blessing!!!!! Im for real. Im not bigtime, but I trust the guy I speak to from Sony. My company merchandises music for Wal-Mart. I live in Dallas and all most of the record companies have reps in the area. Some are nice and some are cocky assholes. Ive had nothing but good experiences with Sony and Uni. The UNi reps I see usually only check on the Latin titles since this is a big Latin music market. I will try to get street info. Im not pulling anyones leg. I just thought the hopeful Prince fan would like this info. (Insert something clever here)

At the July 31st show at the Palace of Auburn Hills, MI (Detroit area), we were told by a roadie that the show was being professionally recorded for DVD release. They had several cameras in addition to the regular ones there, including several handhelds around the stage, a large boom camera near the back of the arena, and one on a track at the side of the stage that moved as Prince did during the show. This was a GREAT show and, if it's the one that ends up being released, no one will be disappointed (that is, if Prince does NOT edit it or anything). If I recal it was about 2 1/2 hours long!

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This just in: The DVD will take longer than usual to release. The professionally shot film stock must first be converted to VHS tape, run through a mid-eighties era VCR and re-shot using a Handi-Cam pointed at a television screen. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
