PLEASE HELP ORGERS. I JUST GOT THE SIGN O TIMES CASSETTE SINGLE WITH THE B SIDE LA LA HE HEE WHICH IS LONGER THAN THE VERSION ON THR HITS/B SIDES COLLECTION. I AM WONDERING IF THE B SIDES ON THE LPS ARE LONGER. i WAS WONDERING BECAUSE MY FRIEND RECENTLY GAVE ME ALMOST ALL OF PRINCE'S 80'S SINGLES. IF THIS IS TRUE, THAN I WILL HAVE TO BUY A USED RECORD PLAYER TO HEAR THE LONGER VERSIONS. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Many of the songs on The Hits/The B-Sides were edited (also on 7 inch original album singles)
You must have bought the 12 inch of "Sign O' The Times"' on cassette .
Many (if not almost all) of the B-Sides are also extended on 12 inch singles (on the original
albums they're not )
So you should get the 12 inch versions

I'm guessing you're a young fan since your knowledge of LPs / 12" is muddled

LP = Long Play (Album)

12" = Single release (same physical size as an LP)

It's true many b-sides (and the singles themselves) are available in longer form on the 12" releases (compared to the 7" singles).

Prince is like Pokemon - Collect them all!

All these B-Sides had longer versions on their original 12" releases...

Yes, they are definately longer. You are going to have to get a turntable to play the "big black CDs".

Seriously though, some of the 12 Inches have been re-released on import CDs but you have to order them. They are not in the same sequence as the original 12 Inches though. For instance, "Erotic City" is on the same CD as "I Would Die 4 U (Long Version)".
