Oh yeah,
one of my favorite Prince albums. Besides the obvious, I love Gotta Broken Heart Again and When You Were Mine. What a great album!!! I am definately pulling this one out when I get home. How true is it that Party Up was written by Morris Day? Miguel MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Dirty Mind
What can I say? This record is perfect. Hard, dirty, beautiful punkfunk soul. I just drove in to work blasting "Do It All Night", got here and clicked on this thread. Happy Birthday to my sexy ridin' partner. Dirty Mind, you always understand when I don't give a damn and just wanna jam. You never judge when I'm having, um, unusual urges. My clothes, my hair, you don't care. It's all about the freakin', me and you, ride or die. And the rest of you better BOW DOWN immediately and surrender your ears, your inhibitions, and oh, yes, that booty ~ take a moment or two and worship at the shrine of Dirty Mind. I was 16 when I first heard this album. Imagine how it formed my sexuality. What would I have been like if I had never heard it? I shudder to think.....

I never really think of this album in terms of sexuality...Yes, I know it's called Dirty Mind. "And what about 'Head'?" you say. But for me, this album is more about freedom: freedom to find one's own identity, to live life to the absolute juicy fullest, with all its exhilaration, heartaches, disappointments, mistakes, love, sex, connection, anger and joy. And most importantly, it's about giving the big to the establishment! The Normal Whores Club

I think the effect of all the Prince in my youth was a deep understanding that sexuality is not morality. Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

But were you 16 when you heard it? Speaking for myself, I wasn't pulling all that deep philosophy out of most things at that age, and when confronted with music this sexually explicit, I didn't go much deeper. Of course now, with age, experience and maturity, things are much different. But at 16.....it was just purely provacative and like nothing I had EVER heard.
