I think Beck and D'Angelo should've inducted him. The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

Snap said: i don't know... it just seems strange to me when i see younger musicians who are still learning their way, welcoming a legend into the Hall of Fame? just don't seem right -- it should've been a whole stage of elder statesmen up there welcoming Prince -- people like George Clinton, Bootsy, James Brown, Sly Stone, Little Richard, Ray Charles, etc. not these young "i barely know nothing"s -- anyhow, if they wanted younger musicians inducting Prince, it should've been Lenny & TTD-Sananda in the least I totally agree! Andy is a four letter word.

Little Richard would have definitely been the shit. He would have turned that award show out.

I think that Outkast's "speeches" were horrible. "Off the dome" indeed. First, don't slouch over a mic--you're professional performers inducting an idol of yours, stand up straight! Second, take a moment to know what you are going to say. Have a little respect for yourself. On the same bill are some African-American musicians who have never gotten their due; the history of rock and roll as an art form is one that could not have been possible without african-american contributions. Yet, they are rarely ever acknowledged. Prince is carrying the banner into the Hall of Fame, He's a worthy heir to the blues, jazz, funk and rock traditions of his predecessors--prepare a speech, yo!
Alicea was just right as a presenter--a beautiful, mixed-race female who is an inspired pianist and wonderfully soulful vocalist whose musical influences come from many sources. She was reverential, funny, respectful, and accurately conveyed the power, the sheer joy it is to listen to His Royal Badness. Lenny Kravitz would have been interesting too. Vernon Reid. James Brown--(I would have DIED), Little Richard, Eric Clapton(!), Steve Vai ( ), umm...not Michael Jackson. I think the criteria they used in Prince's case was to get the last two recent grammy winners with two very different styles who acknowledge being influenced by Prince. It was a good choice as well 'cause ain't no way an Outkast song will ever be mistaken for an Alicea Keys jam. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

Lenny is cool. Its just hip to bash him on the org.
Outkast and Alicia are the hottest things in hip/hop soul, so that gives Prince some more props that new music fans can appreciate. I bet several fans were created due to that intro by those influential artists. (Insert something clever here)

I think Prince should have inducted himself into the RRHOF. He deserves to go up there and tell everyone how great he is and to eat shit

Hell Yeah. You won't get an arguement out of me on that one. That would have been the shit if he brought the crowd to thier knees and made them salute his greatness.

I know the reason Prince requested Alicia Keys and Big Boi and Andre3000 from Outkast to do the induction into the Hall of Fame was because they were two very hot musical acts with the record buying public... both Alicia and Outkast had records out that were selling many copies and were favourites by music listeners.
Now, if they were shown paying crazy amounts of respect to Prince, the aim was to have these kids see this, and hopefully, their interests in Prince and his new record would peak as well. Especially after the huge success of the Grammy awards performance, this was a PR move and nothing more. Last thing though: Prince did one interesting thing during his speech that caught my attention. He began his speech by praising Jehovah and he put the award given to him on the ground. To me, this reflected the different levels of respect in Prince's world: the award, although an honour, was beneath what he see's in himself and what he see's in the God he prays to. Outside opinions, although nice to hear when positive, are just that: other peoples' opinions: the main one that matters is your own of yourself. Whatever... Peace

I also interpereted his actions the same.

it's about time someone did a thread about this. From the beginning i felt that outkast was out of place with inducting P, Alicia Keys was on point with her speech, but like others have said, she's still new to the game. Outkast may have been out here in the industry for 10 years but that doesn't make them deserving of inducting a genius of 25+ years experience into the hall.
Lenny Kravitz i feel is very talented and is so much like P that he would have been THE perfect candidate to induct him in. I feel that this was a sad oversite on whoever decides these things. I felt so embarrassed when big boi had the nerve to go on and on about nothing during his speech. It was like he didn't do his homework and was unprepared for the job that he was assigned. And his report card i'd give him a straight "F" for a fuck up job. Dre wasn't too much better though. I thought that the only thing good about the whole experience was Prince's speech itself. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Lenny's best album was his first. The second was also good. The third was a steep decline, and the fourth even worse, etc. etc.
Why would u want a musical has-been to induct him? "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"
"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"
