Prince doesn't get enough credit for being the best guitarist ever. Prince is a living legend!

He doesn't get enough credit for being more than a pop star.
Simply put, Prince doesn't get enough credit. It's ridiculous how many people will criticize me for being a fan of Prince, as if it's like being a fan of Justin Timberlake or something. Makes me sick, because I can't say anything. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. He doesn't get enough credit for being FUNNY!
Everybody I know thinks Prince is a total stuffed-shirt, until I show 'em Under the Cherry Moon!

Hell, there are some people who have no idea that Prince plays all his own instruments. I know people who still think he dresses in ruffles and lace gloves. It's kooky.

Prince doesn't get enough credit for being the absolute best live performer ever. I dare someone to name anyone ever who could move from the mic, to the piano, to the drums, to the guitar, to doing some funky grinding moves on the floor, sliding down a pole and all the while, be running the freakin' band!!!

His songwriting skills and recording techniques/knowledge.

I'll name two.

I definitely agree with that plus his engineering skills and the brutha is just freaking brilliant. Again people get so caught up with his persona,,is he this, is he that...they just don't realize the depth of the man's talent.... "Say it Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud!!!" - Brother James Brown
"Make my funk the P-FUNK...I want my funk uncut...." Brother George Clinton

I agree with all of the above....plus...his ability to blur the color lines...now I know that may not be popular with some but for me, being "multi-cultural" (and I would never dare to speak for others) it is nice to see him so comfortable with no "assigment" especially lately...I think that is one to count among all fo the other ....doesn't get credit for(s)...

Did Prince inspire other artists putting their music out on their official websites when that Napster issue was happening? I remember he made a statement about it and some people were like 'What!!!' I think he may have some due credit there, although didn't follow all the way through....

Co-Sign! It's 2004, and people (yes, that includes a lot of his fans as well) are still hung up on his race. How many times have we seen folks here on the Org saying shit like "he's pandering to a white audience" "he doesn't like black women" "he lied about his race" ? Who gives a fuck? Black, white, pink-polka dots -it should be about the music, not the skin. Who cares? Too many, that's who. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

What does Prince not get enough credit for? Pretty much everything listed above. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I know exactly what you mean. Anx or Sassy once called his music 'life support'. There is no music on the planet that makes me happier. I can always find Prince music to listen to, no matter what mood I'm in.
some of u know what i mean. I think that Prince doesn't get enough credit for is teaching the newer artists in the industry the better way to do things. I love this thread. Thank you so much for posting it.

I totally agree with all the above so no need 2 mention what have all ready been said.
He doesn’t get enough credit for his style of dress. He's always criticized 4 this. Yes some has been pretty bazaar like the Versace's photos (OMG) but over all I love the way P dresses especially the clothing he wore in SOTT, Loveysexy and Purple Rain era with the ruffles and all. 2 this very day, they continue 2 make fun or criticized his style or choice of dress.

His foresight and his work ethic. Agreed. He reinvigorated the "vanity label" concept with Paisley Park. He began to sell his product on the internet years before anyone else. He's produced enough material for 10 musicians. We can dislike and disagree with his choices, but that's the truth. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder

I don't think P gets enough credit for introducing "You got the right one baby" into our lexicon.

Ditto on that. I think he doesn't get enough credit for introducing so many talents into the music industry AND working with or writing for other artists. For example, Sugar Walls(Sheena Easton), I Feel For You(Chaka) just to name a couple. I could never make a complete list. And where would the world be without the introduction of "The Time" featuring Morris Day and Vanity Six?(Nasty Girl, the stripper's song These examples are just a very small sampling of what the man has contributed.
