I would say that he doesn't get enough credit for being a short, high heel wearing very fem man that gets much female lovin'..... also, I think he doesn't get enough credit for actually being a regular guy that likes to make ppl think he's odd. Brother Ray did the commercial, but Prince wrote the song. I guess it does seem like I'm reaching on that one, but not many folks know to credit that to Prince. see...I didn't know that.

he's a musician and an entertainer. in today's day and age, you get one or the other. with prince, you get the total package. i didn't even realize how much i ached for that until i went to his concert and it set me free. Join me under the waterfall

There are a myriad of things that make Prince culturally and musically wonderful. I'm surprised nobody mentioned his workmanlike professionalism, he has always taken care to be perfectionistic even when the songs haven't been his strongest stuff. He does his best every time out on stage. For all the weird periods he has gone through, he has never stopped turning out quality music, of course some is better than others. In listening to Andre 3000's Dracula's Wedding, I heard a terrific imitation of Prince in the goofy weirdness of the song, I loved it, BUT! Here we have a fellow artist at his peak who lets slipshod production pass in the studio, as good as he is, I recall thinking that Prince would never let some of those mistakes go. Like I say, so many things to point to but this is a major one, I know of no better example of maintaining oneself in the sphere he is in.

I dare someone to name anyone ever who could move from the mic, to the piano, to the drums, to the guitar, to doing some funky grinding moves on the floor, sliding down a pole and all the while, be running the freakin' band!!!
U SO RIGHT. | |

I totally agree with this statement. I read once that back in the day, I don't know if he still does this, he would record all of his parts of the song completely. That is to say that if he was doing a guitar part he would record the entire song. He wouldn't record part of it then loop it to save time. He would do all the instruments that way. I think that's incredible. Miguel [Edited 10/19/04 9:11am] [Edited 10/19/04 9:12am] MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! I will scan it and post it tonight. The picture was taken sometime between 1990 and 1994, but don't quote me. The late 80's and early 90's are a blur. Prince doesn't get enough credit for trying to be a better person. For doing what he feels is the right thing artistically and spiritually. Many of his "devoted" fans would rather stifle growth in favor of musical and spiritual monotany and immaturity.
